Good news! The government is now looking at consultation on Marriage Laws and giving couples more choice. This is good news for UK Celebrants as it could mean that they can legally marry couples in the future. Currently a celebrant offers a wedding celebration. You still get the ‘I do’s’, the commitments, the vows and traditions/rituals that you want in your ceremony. Everything is completely bespoke. But, currently you go to the registry office, maybe the day before or a couple of days before to do the legal paperwork. It’s relatively inexpensive and it’s called a 2+2. Watch this space as all this could change. Exciting times 🙂
A consultation on reforming weddings law in England and Wales. It follows the Law Commission’s 2022 report, Celebrating Marriage: A New Weddings Law and the government’s announcement of its intention to reform the law.
