Yn adrodd straeon drwy 314 Miliwn o Flynyddoedd o Hanes ac Arloesedd In March 2020 - on the eve of the pandemic - we were awarded £4.1m by the National Lottery Heritage Fund to bring ‘Stori Brymbo: A 300 Million Ye
ar Journey’ to life. We’re the group of more than a hundred local people – unpaid trustees, volunteers and paid staff– who are driving a vision for Brymbo’s heritage to be at the centre of our community’s regeneration. This award means we’re a step closer to giving the fossil forest and the remains of the iron and steelworks a new life – and open them to visitors, the community, learners and businesses alike in 2024. We have come a long way since we started chatting about the potential of this most special of places all those years ago in shadow of the steelworks’ 1990 closure. We’ve still got steps to make before the project achieves it’s full ‘green light’, but with any luck these will be completed by the start of 2022, meaning we can then start the physical work to cover part of the fossil forest and repair and restore our key buildings. We’re also running another Lottery-funded project - Roots to Shoots - and you can find out more about what’s going on with that project via our sister page. If you want to find out more about us or get involved as we emerge from the restrictions of the past 18 months, message us directly via this page or email [email protected]
