Woohoo! It’s been a whole year since we launched Knot Your Average Ceremonies, and what a wild ride it's been! We've had the absolute best time being a part of some beautiful and totally unique ceremonies.

We've laughed, happy-cried, and celebrated with all you amazing people who chose us to mark your special moments, including a very special wedding for our own operations manager!

Parliament continues its discussions on marriage law reform, and while the focus often lands on belief systems like Humanism, we're advocating for ALL couples. We truly believe a modern update to marriage laws is essential to empower you, giving you more choice and control over your wedding day.

The proportion of adults in England and Wales who have NEVER BEEN MARRIED has risen significantly, from 26.3% in 1991 to 37.9% IN 2021! For the 25-29 age group, this figure jumped from 73.9% in 2011 to 84.2% IN 2021! This trend often reflects a desire for more personalised experiences and a move away from conventional structures, especially given current economic considerations.

2: Celebrant ceremonies are only for non-religious people. FALSE: Absolutely not! We can incorporate religious elements, spiritual practices, or cultural traditions into your ceremony, making it uniquely yours. We celebrate all beliefs and backgrounds.

Crucially, in England, celebrants do not have the legal authority to conduct legally binding marriages, this would have to be done separately at your local registry office.

Q: What kind of venues can we have a celebrant-led ceremony in? Are there restrictions?

A: Pretty much anywhere! Unlike legal ceremonies, celebrant-led weddings aren't limited to licensed venues. You can have it in your garden, a barn, a beach – anywhere you get permission from the landowner. The only real restriction is that you'll still need to do the legal bit with a registrar separately.



Q: How do you help us write our vows? I have no idea where to start!

A: We know vow writing can be tough! For extra help, we offer personalized vow-writing support for a small fee, giving you tips and guidance to make them perfect.
