Another part of Shelsley Walsh history has been written today with a brand new outright hill record being set, this time to Will Hall in his Gould GR59 V8 Judd with a stellar time of 22.33 seconds as well as a double Top 12 Run Off victory to extend his lead in the British Hill Climb Championship after 10 rounds of the 2026 title chase.

The first Run Off was truly fantastic with all drivers pushing their cars to the absolute limits in search of glory on the world famous hill here at Shelsley Walsh but it was Hall who had the last word.

When the British Championship returns here on August 8 + 9, expect the rivalries to be reignited and the speeds to be upped further! Make sure you’re trackside to see what F1 speeds look like up a country lane here in Worcestershire - keep in touch.

NEW RECORD AT SHELSLEY WALSH!

Will Hall has brilliantly taken the Shelsley Walsh record today with a stunning 22.33 seconds in the first of the British Hillclimb Championship Top 12 Run Offs today behind the wheel of his Gould GR59 V8 Judd.

Pipping the previous record of Sean Gould (22.37 seconds) from 2021, Will has not only put his name in the history books but also gained an extra bonus point for being the fastest ever up the famous 1000 yard hill.

Having come here to Shelsley as a lad when his father was racing, many in the paddock and on The Hill were overjoyed to see Will take one of the biggest prizes in British Motorsport.

We still have the second runs still to go and another Top 12 Run Off in which there will undoubtedly be more breathtaking action akin to a Grand Prix Up A Country Lane.

A dry race track is in store for tomorrow’s thrilling British Hill Climb Championship action here at Shelsley Walsh and with the title chase so close, we expect the times to be closer than ever as drivers battle for every hundredth of a second right to the line.

Wet practice today saw all of the top runners get their eye in on a damp track with what is at the moment a golden era of hill climbing with 2026 so close between the top drivers in their F1 tech derived single seaters.

With the forecast now dry for tomorrow, Sunday, the times are set to tumble of the freshly laid tarmac track that has been updated to give a super smooth run for all the drivers all the way to the top of Shelsley Walsh.

Tickets are online from £22 and on the gate too, Under 16s are FREE 🙌🏼

Hill Climbing is all about explosive power; not just from the car but from every driver who attacks The Hill.

There’s no warm up lap or chance to ‘have another go’ next time round, for it has to be the perfect start, not too much wheel spin, carry that little bit extra speed into each corner and nail every moment you’re on the throttle.

Many drivers go through each run of Shelsley Walsh before they get to the line rather like many downhill skiers do a ‘run’ of the Hahnenkamm at Kitzbuhel before they get to the starting gate so here’s four time British Champion Wallace Menzies going through his run before his team get him to the line for his run.

See Wallace here this weekend in the Gould GR59 V8 Cosworth. The driver/car combo is a sight to see trackside!

This time next week we're on track again here at Shelsley Walsh looking forward to two days of British Hillclimb Championship action on the new tarmac we've put down.

Will Hall is leading the title chase in his 680hp Gould GR59 by just four points after eight rounds from reigning champion Matt Ryder in a similar car but might the prestigious outright Shelsley record tumble on a sunny day come Sunday June 7th?

It currently stands at 22.37 seconds to Sean Gould, but the thrilling Top 12 Run Offs may well see some record times.
