💡✨ An Ice Breaker with a Real Difference ✨💡

At the recent C&IT Forum in Newcastle, we took part in an incredible ice-breaking activity with the brilliant team from Lightbulb.

But this wasn’t your typical “share your name and a fun fact” moment…
We worked together to build a prosthetic arm — a device that will be sent to someone in a developing country who has lost a hand or arm.

This simple yet life-changing tool could:
🍽 Enable them to eat independently again
💼 Help them return to work and earn a wage
🏡 Allow them to care for their families
💖 Restore a sense of dignity and independence

The challenge was powerful — we had to collaborate, follow complex instructions, assemble every piece, and then test the device. By the end, the sense of purpose in the room was unforgettable.

We love a good walking tour — but let’s be honest, they can be hit or miss.

On a recent walking tour of Newcastle, it sadly didn’t quite hit the mark. We didn’t see enough of the city, we couldn’t hear the guide properly, and there were too many breaks just sitting around. The energy (and the flow) fizzled.

Here’s why walking tours can go either way:
1️⃣ The Guide – A great storyteller = magic ✨. A monotone mumbler? Not so much.
2️⃣ The Group – Too big = can’t hear a thing. Too small = awkward silences.
3️⃣ The Pace – Sprinting past the sights or dragging your heels? Balance is everything.
4️⃣ The Story – Packed with fascinating facts 🏛, or random filler you forget instantly.
5️⃣ The Weather – Sunshine = bliss. Sideways rain? Game over.
