This isn’t a set list. It’s a menu.

Nigel’s been collecting records for decades. Never DJed until he played for us. This is his third gig.

He walked in knowing exactly which records needed careful handling — see “Blend” next to the tricky ones — and figured out the rest in the room.

The technical bit is learnable. The knowledge of what to play and when? He already had that.

Saturday 29th August, Copenhagen Street becomes one big afternoon of vinyl. Four venues — , , and — one street, one takeover, 1pm till 9pm.

Eight DJs across eight hours, each one doing their own thing behind the decks. No two hours sound the same — that’s the whole idea. Come for one, stay for all eight, dip in and out as you please.

Went to Classic Ibiza this summer and it properly took me back. Leftfield, Groove Armada, tracks I hadn’t thought about since college suddenly right there again — and once that door opened, one memory pulled the next. Before long I had a whole run of tracks in my head that I knew would sit together perfectly.

This set is what came out of that. New one’s up now. Link in Bio or DM me.

Best bit of the day was watching people’s faces mid-set — that same little jolt of recognition, other people on the same journey of rediscovery without even knowing it was coming.

A couple of options to start. After that, played it by ear.

This is Joe Black Ardy set list from Good Roots last Saturday. 12 tracks spanning 1978 to 2025, Japanese text in the middle, a sketch of the room at the bottom.

Before he came down, he pulled these records off his shelves, checked them, made sure they were ready. The prep happened at home. The decisions happened in the room.

That’s the job. Not just knowing your records — knowing them well enough to trust yourself when the plan runs out.

Every DJ at Once More For The B-Sides has a completely different approach to this. And this bit — the selection, the sequence, reading the room — is the most important part. The technical skills to play it out are learnable. This part you already know how to do.
