🚨 TELFORD RA**ST JAILED FOR TERRORISING MULTIPLE WOMEN

A 31-year-old man from Hadley, Telford, has been jailed for nine years after admitting a series of serious offences against multiple women, including r**e, controlling and coercive behaviour, unlawful wounding and perverting the course of justice.

Joshua Turner appeared at Shrewsbury Crown Court for sentencing after a history of abusive and controlling behaviour towards several women.

The court heard how one victim was subjected to violence and threats during a relationship with Turner. On one occasion, he pushed her head against a wall, causing damage to the masonry. During another incident, he bent her arm behind her back and used his knee against her back, breaking her arm.

The victim was left with a lifelong injury and only partial movement in her arm. The court also heard that Turner had threatened to kick her in the stomach while she was pregnant, contributing to her decision to terminate the pregnancy.

Another woman met Turner while out in Shrewsbury. The court heard that his controlling behaviour included constant calls and messages, preventing her from contacting friends and insisting she could not get a job.

When she attempted to end the relationship, Turner allegedly bombarded her with calls. On one occasion, he attacked her and took her car keys.

Even after she reported him to police, she received around 50 missed calls from Turner while she was inside the police station. She later told the court she had lived in constant fear of him.

A further victim, described in court as particularly vulnerable due to her disability, was also subjected to continued harassment after ending her relationship with Turner and reporting him to police.

The court heard that Turner continued attempting to contact her from prison, including using another prisoner’s PIN card to make calls after restrictions had been put in place to prevent him contacting his victim.

He also sent her a letter from prison which left her feeling physically sick, and prosecutors said he attempted to emotionally manipulate her into dropping criminal charges.

Turner also admitted ra**ng another woman.

Prosecutor Lynette McClement told the court: “This is a man that is a danger to women.”

In mitigation, the court heard that Turner had previously worked as an air conditioning engineer and had spent almost two years in custody. During that time, he had become a prison listener and had been helping other inmates.

His barrister said Turner recognised the risk he posed and understood that he needed to work with the system to reduce that risk.

Recorder Julian Taylor told Turner that he posed a “significant risk to the public.”

Turner was sentenced to nine years in prison, with a further two-year extended licence period. He must serve at least two-thirds of the sentence in custody, less time already spent on remand.

He was also made subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, requiring him to inform police when he begins a new relationship, as well as restraining orders preventing him from contacting his victims.

Turner will also be subject to s*x offender notification requirements indefinitely as a result of his qualifying s*xual offence and nine-year sentence.

The judge told Turner: “You clearly have a problem with relationships with women and you need to sort that out.”

⚠️ Important: The victims involved in these offences are protected and have not been named. No identifying details have been included in this report.

This report is based on details heard during sentencing at Shrewsbury Crown Court.
