Team golf is so dependent on everyone stepping up at different times and today has been a day of just that for Team Essex.

After this mornings win over Norfolk, the afternoon against Suffolk looked tough going for the most part.

Zoe picked up our only singles win with an outstanding performance and Rosie and Lizzie were in control throughout their foursomes match.

But with 2 wins from 5 on the board, a 3rd didn’t look on the cards with Ria and Maybel suffering defeats and Katy and Kelly 1 down with 4 to play.

But Katy and Kelly had different ideas picking up the 15th and 16th holes and holding their nerve for an important 1UP victory.

The 3-2 win could prove vital come Sunday afternoon so a huge well done team. Rest up tonight and be ready for Bedfordshire tomorrow morning.

It’s been a fantastic first morning for Team Essex with a hard fought victory against reigning champions Norfolk.

As is often the case, the battling half points always count for something and Ria fought hard for her half and our two Lily’s kept pushing all the way to come from behind and win their match on the last.

Emily continued her fine recent form with a solid win and Katy and Maybel were in inspired form with an incredible 7&6 victory with some impressive scoring.

Well done team, onto match 2 this afternoon against our Suffolk neighbours.

The Eat Region Women’s County Match Days are off and running up at St Ives Golf Club.

Team Essex jump straight in the deep end with their opening fixture seeing them up against reigning champions Norfolk.

Team Manager Amanda has gone for youth in this mornings singles with Zoe, Ria and Emily flying the Essex flag.

The two foursomes matches have Katy & Maybel and our two Lily’s paired together, ensuring Essex are going out hard from the off.

It’s a big day for 5 of our talented Essex golfers as they put their game to the test in the pre-qualifying for the British Amateur Championship which takes place next week.

West Lancs is the course hosting pre-qualifying, which is a tough test of golf at the best of times.

With 72 elite players battling it out for 23 available spots in next weeks field, a solid round will do it and all 5 know they have it in their locker.

Awaiting the qualifiers in the main event will be fellow Essex Amateurs, Harley Smith (Rayleigh) and Charlie Rusbridge (Colne Valley), who have the privilege of exempt status, but more on that next week.

The British Amateur Championship is the flagship event in the amateur golf calendar with the winner of the main event gaining a start in The Open, The US Open and the US Masters.

One incredible week could be truly life changing.

Good luck today lads, play well, make the magic happen and get yourselves into the mix for next week. 💪

The East Region Women’s County Match Days begin tomorrow morning and we send all our best wishes over to St Ives Golf Club.

6 counties are represented, all playing each other in a 5 match round robin format, with each match consisting of 2 foursomes and 3 singles.

Essex have a real blend of youth and experience in their squad and come rain or shine, we know they will do themselves and each other proud.

After a damp practice round, we hope you all get to dry out this evening and rest up for a fun few days ahead.

Women’s Intro to Golf Taster Day - Sunday 12th July - Crondon Park Golf Club.

After the success of our recent taster days we’re excited to announce we have booked another Women’s Intro to Golf Taster Day for next month.

Being held at the fantastic Crondon Park Golf Club, our golf development team have pulled out all the stops with another opportunity for the ‘wanna be female golfers’ in Essex to get a head start and experience all the fun of golf with expert tuition.

This session has been personalised beyond all expectations.

Coaching will be provided by female golf professionals and refreshments will be laid on for everyone to enjoy the camaraderie of the full golf experience.

As we wake up this morning, the excitement is building for the 2026 Essex Amateur Championship.

3 sleeps, 78 players, 72 holes, 1 winner.

On this day 12 months ago, Henry Styles of Romford woke up as the 2025 County Champion, having strung 4 rounds together for a 6 under par total, winning by a huge 10 shots.

Little did Henry know that last year’s victory would be the catalyst to going on and winning the English Amateur Championship later in the summer.

As we dot the i’s and cross the t’s for this years event, we wonder who will prevail over four rounds at the challenging Crondon Park Golf Club and what it could mean for the rest of the winners golfing season.
