A post I’ve not wanted to write, nor wished to write as I love Xtra Mile Entertainments so, so much! I’ve laughed, I’ve cried, I’ve stressed wanting perfection for all of your visits, to make your children’s memories last for life. Xtra Mile evolved over ten fantastic years, starting with basic character visits, then glitter tattoos. We started doing simple children’s discos with party games, which was a learning curve as we went along, but was just so much fun, not just for the children, but parents and grandparents alike - you were not going to escape doing the Hokey Cokey or the cha cha slide.
Our busiest times were always Christmas, with our Elf on the Shelf or Grinch visits, it was hard work but every smile made it all worth it. It was so magical, and kept the inner child in me very happy!
Getting cancer, literally changed my life! To find out it is incurable is devastating and then a very limited timeline makes me realise that however much I want to continue making memories, I now have to make my own memories while I still can. I was going to continue hiring costumes out, but that still needs some degree of organisation.
I’ve hated saying no to people who have still wanted us for events that we have done every year, I have always tried to help events, wherever we have been able to, but with not driving anymore, and having limited mobility, I just can’t. From Springfields, The Cobblestones, The Light Cinema, The Beach at Bens Yard, The Greenhouse, Truckfest, to name but a few, thank you for booking with us!
So I have had to make this heartbreaking decision, that the business is now closed and the page will be deleted at the end of June. If you have any pictures, then please save them before I close the page for good.
We had a good run, my team throughout the ten years - you did me proud, you made this business what it was - I couldn’t have done it without you. Professional but oh so fun, even when I doubted myself at times you rallied around.
So I am selling some costumes off if anyone is interested.
The page will close at the end of June.
Live your best lives everyone, and be happy!
