Sometimes people say, "They're just balloons."

But when you look back through the photos of your life, they're often there.

In the background of a baby shower. Framing a birthday celebration. Standing proudly at a graduation. Adding colour to a wedding. Celebrating your small business. The backdrop for an award show. Even helping honour a loved one at a memorial.

The balloons are rarely the focus of the photograph, but they're part of the memory.

That's why I'm very passionate about what I do.

It's never been "just balloons" to me. It's about helping create the backdrop to life's special moments and celebrations.

At Big Lion Events, we take safety incredibly seriously. Every hire is carefully inspected, securely set up and thoroughly checked before use, because your children’s safety will always come first.

As a balloon company, we love creating joy, magic and celebrations… but safety has to come first, always.🎈

After reading a heart breaking industry email this week about a child who tragically lost their life after inhaling helium, we wanted to share this safety poster and gently remind people that helium is not harmless fun.

A lot of people still think inhaling helium for the “funny voice” is just a party trick, but it can cause unconsciousness within seconds because helium pushes oxygen out of the lungs without triggering the body’s normal panic response.

That’s why at Big Lion Events we take helium safety seriously.

A few really important reminders:
• Never inhale helium — from balloons or tanks
• Keep large foil balloons away from young children unsupervised
• Don’t let balloons cover a child’s face or head
• Dispose of balloons safely once finished with

We never want to take the fun out of celebrations, but we do believe awareness matters. Sometimes a simple conversation or warning can genuinely save a life.

Please take a moment to read the poster if you use helium balloons at parties or at home ❤️

A Small Change To Our Services… But Lots More Amazing Parties Ahead 🤍

After a great deal of thought, we have decided to move away from outdoor bouncy castle hires and all bouncy castle hires will be indoor only.

We genuinely always want the very best experience for our clients and their little ones, and safety will always come first in every decision we make. Unfortunately, British weather can be incredibly unpredictable, and even with careful planning, monitoring multiple weather sources and trying to accommodate bookings wherever possible, outdoor inflatable hires can quickly become affected by wind and rain conditions.

We have always tried to be as fair and flexible as possible for our clients, including delaying payments when poor weather is forecast and doing everything we can to make events go ahead safely. However, outdoor bouncy castle hires often leave both clients and ourselves facing uncertainty and disappointment despite everyone’s best intentions.

As a business, we pride ourselves on delivering the highest quality service and experience possible, and we feel we can continue doing this far more reliably indoors where the British weather is no longer a factor.

The good news is that we will still be offering outdoor soft play hire, alongside our indoor bouncy castles, balloons and party setups 🤍

Thank you so much to everyone who has supported our outdoor hires so far. We are very excited to continue bringing amazing parties and events to Hampshire and beyond.
