We adored K & H’s colour palette; softly sensuous, fresh and vivacious. Blush, apricot, fresh whites and sky blues danced together so beautifully.

The flowers sang the song of Summer; Cosmos, Gaura, Jasmine, roses, scented pelargonium, mint, zinnias, scabious, Tweedia, Ammi and Alchemilla mollis AKA Lady’s Mantle.

For me, making a bridal bouquet is one of the greatest honours of being a florist. It is held close throughout one of the most memorable and important days of a person’s life. It becomes part of the photographs, the embraces, the conversations, the quiet moments before the ceremony and the memories that last long after the flowers have faded.

Creating something so deeply personal is a privilege, and one I will never take for granted. Wishing this lovely couple every happiness and blessing together 🤍

We loved providing Arranger’s Buckets of our Summer stems for a flower painting 🖼️ workshop by the very talented earlier today.

We are so lucky that our lovely village is home to many creative, artistic, compassionate and generally lovely humans. Community is at the heart of what we do, how and why we do it.

From the little farmstand at our gate, crammed with flowers on Fridays, to the honour flowering weddings of fellow villager’s families, we truly love what we do and hope that is felt in our flowers.

The flowers for Rebecca’s workshop were a totally authentic representation of how flowers are coping in this heatwave.

I feel blessed to call Rebecca a friend and know that both she and her art are all about authenticity, honesty and vibrancy. So rather than editing the flowers; peeling off scorched, sun-dried petals and crispy leaves or cutting off blown blooms, I left everything as it was when I cut it. It’s real and truthful. I knew that the textures, the faded areas alongside the saturated colours, the dried stems and seed heads were all the type of thing that excites and inspires Rebecca’s artistic eye. I can’t wait to see the flowers immortalised in the paintings that were created today.

And suddenly it was the middle of Summer. The heat over the past week has been a real challenge for everyone; humans and animals. It has been particularly challenging for those working outside, farming and growing produce of any kind.

Our sweet peas have been so scorched but we will be doing a huge prune this weekend and hopefully coaxing them back with the help of the slightly lower temperatures now. We are seeing a lot more ants than last year along with black fly. But will we use pesticides? Certainly not.

Why? Well, not only due to the indiscriminate nature of pesticides, in that they also kill bees and other pollinators, are toxic to the environment and to us but also another reason, one I have only learnt about in depth in recent weeks.

Agricultural chemicals are tested on animals. Some are tested on dogs, more specifically beagles that are bred for laboratory testing, here in the UK. The tests are barbaric, unethical and utterly unnecessary.

I will not go into detail here, but if this bothers you, please support the campaign as they lawfully negotiate the closure of the UK’s laboratory beagle breeding facility, . Please also support , the residents of which have courageously lived just outside the MBR Acres for the past 5 years, holding vigil for the thousands of dogs bred to die and raising awareness.

These dogs need you. If you care, please put that care into action, write to your MP, support the campaign and help to bring this outdated abomination to an end.
