Brought out my decomposition game today for the new Eco Ambassadors at my son’s school 💚

I ask the kids sort everyday items (apple, can, newsletter, even a nappy) by how long they take to break down. Each new cohort are a bit better at it showing how awareness of materials and their impact is really growing!

I volunteer with the school’s Eco Council and we’re planning topics for the year ahead: healthy living, marine protection, global citizenship and making the most of our brilliant outdoor spaces.

I always love seeing how confidently kids talk about the environment. They get it. 💚🌍

✨ As part of Wi******er Green Week, I created a Dreaming Board. It was a space for people to share their hopes for the Wi******er of the future.

💭Here’s one dream that stood out… “More upcycling stores!”

Imagine places where old things are reinvented and reimagined into something new. A chance to find what you need (or something that simply brings joy) without creating demand for new resources.

Because if we can’t imagine a better future, how will we build it? 💚

Pumpkins can go into the new food waste bin 👇

Should my pumpkin go in the bin? 🎃

🎃 If you already have weekly food waste collections, you can put your used pumpkins into your food waste bin. Cut or break it up and pop it in a liner just like you would any other food waste.

🎃 Next Halloween, we’ll all be able to have our pumpkins collected with the rest of our food waste - to be turned into green energy and soil improver.

🎃 If you are still waiting for food waste collections to start, please dispose of your used pumpkins in your black bin. Thank you for your patience while we roll out the new service.
