Just down the road from Dereham House is the most gorgeous little self-service shop, tucked away in the Old Milking Parlour and stocked with produce from Gorsehill Abbey Farm.

Fresh milk in fabulous one litre glass bottles, organic apple juice, eggs, ice cream and all sorts of other delicious things...there’s even a milkshake station with everything you need to make your own!

I absolutely love finding places like this, especially when the produce comes from right here on our doorstep

We’re still discovering so much around our new home, but I already know this is going to become one of our regular stops.

What a special evening celebrating our lovely friend Mike!

Last week we had the pleasure of joining our good friend Mike Crisp at for the launch of his very first novel, What Can’t Be Unseen.

Writing and publishing your first book is quite an achievement, and it was so lovely to see Mike surrounded by friends and family celebrating something he’s worked incredibly hard for Michael Crisp

Mike has spent more than 20 years working as an NHS doctor and has used so much of that experience and his understanding of people in his writing. What Can’t Be Unseen is a gripping medical thriller and I think I’m going to struggle to put this one down once I start!

It was a brilliant evening and such a special milestone to be there for.

Finding Dereham House…

When we began looking for our forever home in February 2025, we knew we were asking rather a lot.

First and foremost, it had to feel like home, somewhere our family could put down roots for many years to come. But it also needed to become the new home of The Buttery Dish, with enough space to bring all the ideas I had been dreaming about to life.

After months of searching and struggling to find anything that felt quite right, a close friend recommended Hannah Edge, Hannah Edge and from that moment, the search completely changed.

Hannah opened the door to properties we simply wouldn’t have found ourselves...homes being sold discreetly, opportunities that hadn’t yet been publicly listed and some that we would never have known were available. With our already busy lives, she also did so much of the groundwork for us, viewing properties beforehand and gently discounting those she knew wouldn’t work.

What I particularly loved was that Hannah really listened. She understood that we weren’t simply looking for a property or a business opportunity, we were looking for our forever home.

She was wonderfully diplomatic when we needed a little steering in the right direction, always giving us the pros and cons and never pushing us towards something that wasn’t right.

And then came Dereham House.

Hannah helped us negotiate the purchase and stayed beside us throughout the entire process, right up until the moment the keys were finally in our hands.

Always calm, endlessly patient and genuinely excited about what we were trying to create, somewhere along the way our property finder also became a friend.

Now, as we begin this next chapter and watch Dereham House slowly become both our family home and the new home of The Buttery Dish, it feels very special to remember how it all began.

So, if you’re dreaming of finding your own little corner of the Cotswolds, I couldn’t recommend having a conversation with Hannah highly enough.

Sometimes the right house isn’t the one you’re searching for.

It’s the one someone knows how to find.

Once a month we have the loveliest farmers market here in Willersey.

This month James, Margaux and I took our old wooden cart down from the house and as you can see, it came back rather fuller than it left!

There’s always so much to choose from...fresh bread, vegetables, cheese, cakes, honey, plants, pottery and some particularly delicious chocolate truffles.

I’m loving getting to know all the local producers, it really is fabulous having something like this just down the road from home. It is going to be the most perfect place to stock up once The Buttery Dish is back welcoming people too!

One of my favourite little finds for Dereham House...

I spotted these old stair clips in a house clearance shop for £20 and couldn’t resist them.

They were rusty and definitely needed a bit of love, but I knew exactly where I wanted them to go.

So I gave them a good wash, dried them all off and then got to work with the spray paint. I absolutely loved doing this...there’s something so satisfying about taking something old and making it beautiful again rather than buying new.

They’ve turned out even better than I’d hoped and I can’t wait to see them in place with the stair runner at Dereham House.

£20 very well spent, I think!
