P U G L I A ~ The location for our beautiful clients, B & L’s wedding. We absolutely LOVED planning this fun filled destination wedding in one of our favourite regions of Southern Italy.

Puglia is known for its pretty whitewashed hill towns, centuries-old farmland and hundreds of kilometers of Mediterranean coastline and not forgetting its centuries old olive trees - approximately 50 million of them!

Scattered throughout Puglia, you'll find countless farmhouses known as Masserias. Constructed in the 16th century, a lot today have been luxuriously renovated while still capturing that southern Italian charm that this region of Italy exudes. is a perfect example of this, a stunning five star property located within the Itria Valley. Our clients instantly fell in love with this property when we visited Puglia for their venue search. Of the 10+ properties we visited was the first one we viewed and was destined to be the location for their wedding. With large guest numbers this property worked perfectly across their three day celebration.

B A C K D R O P S ~ They don’t really get any more impressive than the majestical backdrop of

It was such a joy creating the design brief for this beautiful summer wedding. The concept of which was all based around the stunning castle and it’s equally breathtaking surroundings.

As our clients chose to host their wedding celebrations in a glass marquee we needed to ensure that our design blended seamlessly and sympathetically with the natural surroundings - we wanted guests to feel that they were actually stood within the grounds of the ruin.

Our design therefore had a very natural and organic feel to it. Every little detail was carefully thought through from the composition of the florals to the texture of the furnishings, the colour of the carpets and the positioning of each of the beautiful empire crystal chandeliers. A bespoke dove grey bar was commissioned together with intricate trellis detailing which separated the reception space from the dining area.

S A Y I N G H E L L O ~ It has been SO long since I last jumped in here to say hello and introduce myself. So here goes…Hi everyone I’m Helen, the face and creator behind Helen Eriksen Wedding & Event Design.

I’ve been crafting timelessly elegant weddings now for just over 9 years. I can’t quite believe it’s been nearly a whole decade of planning weddings.

Prior to becoming a Wedding Planner I worked as an Employment Lawyer. I’m often asked what made me change direction and set up my own wedding planning business. In short, I am and always have been a creative at heart. I have had a passion for creating, designing, plotting and organising for as long as I can remember. I am not happy unless I have an exciting project on the go.

Being a productivity ninja is something I’ve always been proud of but that skill has been taken to all sorts of new levels since becoming a Mum 16 months ago.

I have an unwavering passion for all things Italian - the food, the wine, the culture, the history, the people, the scenery- there is just no better place on earth in my opinion. As for a wedding destination, it goes without saying that Italy ticks all the boxes and then some! It is definitely one of our favourite locations for a wedding.

I’ve been rather quiet on Instagram over the last year but there’s definitely been work going on behind the scenes and I look forward to sharing more of it on here soon!

T H E R U I N E D G A R D E N ~ There’s a definite feeling of spring in the air right now. The roads are lined with beautiful daffodils and the blossom is out in full bloom. Without doubt spring is our ultimate season.

Our clients wedding was originally designed with Spring in mind, unfortunately Covid had other ideas and so it was postponed to June last year. Fortunately summer arrived late last year allowing for a beautiful array of delicate and whimsical Spring flowers and rambling foliage perfectly created by and his fabulous team.

Inspired by the romantic gardens and gothic ruins of guests our design incorporated lots of natural and organic arrangements. Beautiful textured linens and contrasting slate grey glassware were carefully chosen to blend in to the surrounding ruins. Elegant taper candles and cut glass tea lights added an element of warmth and ambiance to the stunning glass marquee.
