There’s always something great to do if you stay with us.
A lovely little walk near us; Ling Fell.
⛰️ park on the top road out of Wythop Mill near Eskin
⛰️ follow the old co**se road to the right which takes you up the mountain giving you great views of the Embleton valley on your right
⛰️ curve around the left which turns into a part grass part gravel track with fabulous views across the Bassenthwaite range including views of Graystones, Broom Fell, Lords Seat and Barf to mention a few
⛰️ follow the path up the mountain taking you to the top on a grassy path
〽️You’ll now see amazing views across to the Skiddaw mountain range including Skiddaw itself (3rd highest mountain in the Lake District), Ullock Pike, Long side, Carl Side and Dodd. A fine fine view coupled with Bassenthwaite Lake (the only lake in Lakeland); can you spot the sailing boats?
〽️ Enjoy a picnic on the top or take in the views.
⛰️ there are many paths down but effectively they all lead the same way. Effectively you will be going down and then skirting around the base of the mountain on an anti-clockwise route. You’ll see great views of Burthwaite Heights and Broom Fell on the way down.
⛰️ return to your car and stop off for drinks and refreshments on the way back at The Pheasant, Wythop or Bassenthwaite Lake Station (a former railway station where you can dine in the railway cars and boasts the original replica locomotive from the remake of “Murder on the orient express”
