It’s all in the detail 🖊

This pen and watercolour study of the ceremony space at Quex Park is a great example of how a venue illustration can set the tone for a full suite.

Beyond the invitations, I love seeing these details carry through to the day-on-the-day items—appearing on everything from the order of service to the table names and menus. It’s a great way to tie the whole style together and make everything element cohesive.

Sharing a bit of joy and positivity today!

I’m always thankful for the kind words my couples and clients share with me, especially when it's their unfiltered reaction to seeing my designs in full or receiving them in the post.

Here are a few highlights from the inbox lately.

Receiving messages like these makes the long hours in the studio worth it! ☺️

Invitation wording doesn’t have to be a headache.

One of the main areas couples get stuck on when it comes to their wedding invitations is what information to include and how to word it. They often fret about missing key details, how to phrase certain sections, or the tendency to over-word others.

But don’t worry—I’ve got you covered.

On my website, there is a helpful guide on what sections you may want to include and what information you need to give your guests ahead of your wedding day.

I also have a document that I share with the couples I’m working with. It includes how previous couples have phrased things, including the sections people sometimes struggle with, such as "Children" and "Gifts."

Planning a wedding is all about the little details that tell your story. 🎨✨

On the latest blog post in ‘The Studio,’ I’m diving deep into Wedding Timelines. Beyond just being a schedule, these are a beautiful way to sprinkle personality into your invitation suite or your big day.

In this post, I explore:
- Different styles and where they fit within your stationery suite.
- Creative ways to add your own unique stories.
- Practical tips on what information to include to keep your guests in the loop.

Your timeline doesn't have to be just a list of times—it can be a work of art.

It’s all in the detail. 🖊️

There is something really satisfying about drawing a wedding venue using just pen and ink. I enjoy taking the time to study a building like this, picking out the main features and gradually layering in the detail with different pen thicknesses.

This illustration of Dover College Chapel was part of a recent wedding invitation commission. It’s a great example of how a simple line drawing can capture the character of a place.

Stationery inspired by the dress. ✨

For Chris and Lavinia’s wedding, the inspiration came from a single, stunning source: Lavinia’s gold beaded dress. They wanted something chic and sophisticated to match this elegant, show-stopper of a dress.

I used the bronzes and golds from the intricate beadwork on the top of the dress, to create a botanical suite that felt just as detailed as the gown itself.

Swipe to see the transition from the "Idea" to the finished print.

A New Home & The Next Chapter 🏠✨

A new chapter in Herne Bay. 🏠

We’re officially moved in. It’s been a long week of packing, waiting on exchange, and the usual moving day chaos, but we’re finally set up and running.

I loved my old studio and the work I created there, but I’m ready for a change of pace. Looking forward to seeing what comes to life in this new space.

Cheers to the next one. 🥂

Setting the scene for the after-party 🍕🪩

Evening invitations are a great way to give guests a glimpse of what to expect from the celebrations. For Chloe and Tom’s wedding last August, that meant two very important things: pizza and dancing.

It was fun to move away from more traditional designs for these and focus on the personality of their evening at Crown Lodge. I loved illustrating these playful details, from the disco ball down to the individual pizza toppings.

It’s always a pleasure to see these designs go from the sketch sheet to being part of such a special day.

On the workbench: The Old Kent Barn ✍️

It’s been a lovely start to the year working with several couples getting married at The Old Kent Barn, helping them bring their invitation ideas to life.

This venue holds such a special place in my heart, as it’s where we got married in the Spring of 2022. It is always a pleasure to draw these buildings and be reminded of the memories from our own day.

It’s also been exciting to see how the space has evolved over the years. I've especially enjoyed illustrating the new welcome gardens, which many of my recent couples have chosen to include in their custom designs. 🌸

Here are a few progress shots of the pieces I’ve been working on recently —I’m looking forward to sharing the full suites in a few months!
