Off to do some outreach with a local coastal school today so a different view of St Mary's from Whitley Bay for us. We do outreach sessions on lighthouse keeper lives, rocks and fossils and the wildlife of the area and rockpool habitats and birds and then meet them on their patch to rockpool and fossil hunt the next day.

Please note that due to the Tyneside 10k, access to the lighthouse car park will not be available. The closest car parking will be outside the Whitley Bay Crematorium or at the Brierdene carpark, so please leave enough time to walk from these car parks for the 10am start time.

A huge thank you to Shiremoor Primary School for a lovely art exhibition 🎨😊👏

We are pleased to announce a FREE exhibition in the conference room (upstairs in the visitor centre with some amazing coastal views) this weekend. Sat 13th Sept 11am-4.30pm and Sun 14th Sept 11.30am-4.30pm.

Pop in to see the wonderful exhibition by the fabulous Shiremoor Primary School, get a takeaway coffee to watch the seals and birds from the island and you can even take on the challenge to climb the lighthouse for a small fee in the gift shop.

What a treat!

October access times 25- we are now going into low season so will be open where possible around the tides on weekends and school holidays. Oct is a great time for a school trip as you have the buildings to yourselves midweek!
