You may or not be aware of news that the government are looking to begin charging VAT on Private Hire fares. We'd like to point that here at BTCS, we don't have any political affiliation. As far as we are concerned, they are all self-serving charlatans, no matter what colour rosette they wear.

What's just if not more more worrying, is the plan to cut the VAT threshold from £80 000 a year to £30000. Ask any small business owner what it's like at the moment, and they will tell you its brutal. We've never seen such a hostile environment for small business as exists today.

Extra charges for making tax digital software, sky high insurance and energy costs, mountain of red tape due to "net zero" and now the threat of extra costs, time and paperwork due to VAT. Most small business were started because the owners thought they could give a better service to the public that what was out there. They tend to be more dedicated to their cleints than the huge corporations and don't mind the long hours and the extra work that goes in, as the brilliant relationship they share with their customers, which makes it all worthwhile.

However there does come a point where you think, "Is it worth it". Is it worth the stress, the hassle, the long hours and the hard work when a bunch of economically illiterate clowns are doing their best to bleed you dry? You may pay a bit more using a small local business, but believe us, most the time its more than worth it.

We'd like to apologise to our clients for today. It's pretty fair to say we've had 48 hours from hell - driver shortages, passport and baggage hold-ups, high winds and delayed flights, have all conspired to prevent us from giving our customers the level of service they have come to expect and the level we like to deliver.

We try our best, sometimes it just isn't good enough. Rest assured, normal service has been resumed.
I'm now going to lie down in a darkened room, and count the new the grey hairs.

P.s on a more positive note, we did get another couple of 5 star reviews this week!

It's beginning to feel really autumnal out there at the moment - dark nights and mornings are on the way, cold and rain. Luckily our S Class has heated front and rear seats for our clients comfort. We even pre-warm the seats on early morning journeys, so the car is nice and toastie when you get in.

If your car service doesn't do this, you're using the wrong one!

What do the reviews we receive from our clients and a famous group from the 80's have in common? They are both Five star.

Two more this week. Someone accused us of posting fake reviews recently. Don't do it and have never done it. All our reviews are from people who have travelled with us. The fact our diary is bulging and around 90% of our work is repeat or personal recommendation, speaks for itself.

🐱 PURRFECT RESCUE AFTER BIRMINGHAM CABBIE FINDS KITTENS IN HIS ENGINE

A private hire driver got a huge surprise when he found a litter of newly born kittens underneath his car.

Syed Miah had just stepped out of his Toyota C-HR after doing the school run in Kings Heath about 9am on Monday 8 September, when he heard curious cat noises.

He had a look around the surrounding bushes and plants with his neighbour but found nothing.

However, his wife advised him to peek under the car and was surprised when he used a selfie stick and saw a tiny tail poking out.

He drove to Fast Fit Auto Centre in Vicarage Road, Kings Heath, where husband and wife team Richard and Kellie Tootell sprung into action to save the kittens.

Richard hoisted Syed's Toyota up on the ramp and carefully removed the lower engine cover- but the gentle purring had stopped.

At first they thought the kittens had died but their hearts rose when each one was taken out, and all were alive.

Syed, 36, said: "I'm very, very glad they were alive. They must have been born overnight. They were under my car and had been on their first journey.

"I've used the garage before, they are my local and they are amazing."

A friend who also rescues cats advised Syed to find the mother so she could feed them so he asked round his neighbours and they tracked down the mother cat who was missing her babies.

All have been reunited and are now in the care of the cat rescue volunteer.

Kellie added: "We are over the moon. We are huge animal lovers and are even jokingly calling ourselves the Fast Cat Auto Centre."

On VIP Duty for the Great North Run yesterday with a trip down to the Midlands. We normally keep the music pretty low as the clients snooze in the back. However this time they asked for it to be turned up. Just before I dropped them off I was told, "When you put your music on I did think, this has the potential to go south, but every tunes been a banger"!

We don't really understand young peoples speak but we're taking that as a win. 😄
