TWO WEEKENDS OF YAZ… AND WOW!

We’ve now been open for two weekends and honestly, the response has been amazing!

We’ve reached over 200 members and welcomed more than 500 visits from young people to our building over the past two weekends! 🤯

Thank you to everyone who has come through the doors, signed up, got involved and helped make YAZ what it is already becoming. This is exactly why we wanted to create this space, somewhere young people can meet friends, have fun, enjoy themselves and feel like they belong.

A HUGE thank you to everyone who has volunteered, helped out and supported us throughout this journey. Special thanks to Glenn, Rocco, Riley, Lauren, Chris, Margaret, Allison, Brett and everyone else who has helped hold down the fort over the last two weekends. We genuinely couldn’t do it without you. ❤️

We’re only just getting started, and we can’t wait to see what comes next!

YES - WE’RE OPEN AGAIN EVERY FRIDAY AND SATURDAY! 🙌 (plus our first rave is on the 24th October, Tickets now live!)

Workington’s YAZ IS OFFICIALLY OPEN!

Yesterday we officially opened the doors to YAZ, our brand-new under-18s youth space in Workington.

From getting the keys back in May to standing there yesterday and seeing the young people, it’s been a massive few months. What started as an empty space has been turned into somewhere young people can come, hang out, play, make music, be creative, meet people and, most importantly, make it their own.

A huge thank you to all of our funders, supporters, contractors, volunteers and everyone who has helped make YAZ happen.

Glenn Anderson, Co-Chair of NEAD, said:

“Opening YAZ is a really proud moment for everyone at NEAD. It’s brilliant to finally see the doors open, and I’m really excited to see the young people come in, make the space theirs and show us what they want YAZ to become.”

And from Rocco Boyd, Co-Chair of NEAD:

“For me, the exciting bit now is watching YAZ grow. We’ve built the foundations and created the space, but now I want to see young people absolutely take over it, build it up with us and watch it thrive. I want to come back in six months, a year, two years from now and see how much the young people have shaped this place. That’s what YAZ is really about.”

The building is ready. Let’s make our young people want it. ❤️

WE’RE FINALISTS!

We’re absolutely delighted to announce that NEAD CIC has been selected as a finalist in the Best Diversity and Inclusion Business category at the 2026 in-Cumbria Business Awards, sponsored by Cumberland Building Society.

This one means a lot.

NEAD was built around creating more inclusive communities, opening doors, creating opportunities and making sure people feel seen, supported and welcome. To have that work recognised alongside some of Cumbria’s brilliant organisations is a huge achievement for our whole team.

I’m so proud of this organisation. We don’t always stop and think about how far NEAD has come, so being named a finalist is a really nice moment to step back and realise what we’ve achieved together. I’m genuinely really proud of the team and everyone who has helped us get here. - Rocco Boyd & Glenn Anderson
