We’re really sorry, but due to a consistent forecast of high winds on the clifftop above the safe operating level for the site - Illuminated Whitby Abbey will not go ahead on Saturday 25th October. Whitby Abbey will also be closed all day Saturday 25th October.

If you have pre-booked your ticket you will be automatically refunded within 10 working days.

The forecast is better for this evening – Friday 24th October and the event will go ahead tonight as planned.

Food and Drink at Illuminated Abbey! 👻 ☕️

We've worked hard to ensure our food is the usual great quality and as spooky as the illuminations in all the right ways! 😋

We’ve collaborated with Whitby Gin and the Craft Gin Club on a signature drink - a Lighthouse Toddy. Inspired by local ghost lore centred on the lighthouses of Whitby, the drink consists of a mulled & spiced white wine complete with a shot of Whitby Distillery’s ‘Demeter’ gin - not to be missed! Our bar also serves mulled Viking mead and a selection of beers from Whitby Brewery! 🍻

We have hot chocolates, open-fire marshmallow toasting, black gothic Dracula ‘Ice-Screams’, and ‘Dracula’s Grave’ gingerbreads on our ice cream van. 🧛‍♀️🍦

Food wise there will be locally-sourced Whitby fish and chips from Quayside, a decades-old family ran Whitby institution. Local pulled-pork sandwiches, burgers and hot dogs round off our savory offer. 🌭 🍔

Vegan options are available at all sweet and savory stands. 🌱
