Get the babysitter sorted and come.out for an evening of live comedy at The Blakehay Theatre, featuring my friend, David Arnold.

There is an early bird discount offer on the website, bringing tickets down to just £12.30 including booking fee. How amazing is that!!! Three comedians and a MC, that is just £3.08 an act.

If you see me, say 'hi' and I will tell you a joke as well.

Big laughs in an intimate venue

For me, the best breakfast in Weston is Rutherfords on Oldmixton Crescent.

It is a no thrills greasy spoon cafe, but the breakfast is a fantastic price and can not be beat for my money.

£7 gives you a sausage, 3 thick rashers of bacon, sauté potatoes, fried bread, fried egg and a choice of beans, tomatoes or mushrooms. You can also have bread and butter included fo free.

They do a jumbo breakfast for £9.95
4 bacon, 2 eggs, beans, tomato, black pudding, mushrooms, 2 sausages, 2 slices of fried bread, bread and butter/toast and loads of sauté potatos.

You just cant beat it for vlaue for money.

They also do a daily range of special, like pie, chips and veg for £7.

Popped in to The New Inn, Kewstoke on Monday for a quick lunch with visiting friends.who were down to watch Madnes with me at Summer Fest At The Beach

We had a very warm welcome from.the bar staff upon arrival. Two of us went for the Ploughman's (pictured) which had cheese and ham, home made scotch egg, pork pie, warm French stick and salad, with coleslaw, chutney and a big pickled onion. Came in at £15.

It was very filling. The dressing added depth and the warm bread was a nice touch. Well.presented.

They have a kids menu, but there is a very.small beer garden and no play equipment.

There is a lot of conflicting post on socials about Summer Fest At The Beach.

I was there Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and I had a good time. I think many negative comments are from people who have not been to festivals before and do not understand the decisions around health and safety from the horrendous weather on Saturday.

I went into the VIP tent at one point to buy some drinks, and I commented that I thought it was safer outside than under the tent. It is a glowing testament to the construction team that nothing did collapse. The team made decisions, and if the VIP tent had collapsed and injured people, or if Sophie Ellis Bexter did go on stage and get injured, people would be blaming them for letting it go on.

They made judgement calls. They did their best, and most acts performed. Hats off to them.

It sounds like communication was not clear, and there are definate instances of over zealous security, but every member of staff I encountered was polite, professional and friendly. My main issue was the pricing. I brought my tickets early on, then they released the 15% residents discount, then gave away hundreds of Sunday tickets for free. My early support was a mistake and I could have saved over £150 if I had held off buying tickets.

Here are my rankings of acts from best to worse.

Epic
1. Rick Parfett jr
2. Five
3. Sister Sledge
4.Dizzee Rascal

Very good
5. Madness
6. Feeder
7. Artful dodger
8. Scouting for girls
9.Gok Wan
10. Blue

Not my cup of tea
11. Razerlight
12. Ocean Coloir Scene

Didn't see
The Hoosiers
The Twang
Craig David

Didn't perform
Diversity
Sophie Ellis Bexter
The Feeling

Overall I think they did a good job. I hope they get rid of the VIP golden circle as Sundays access was definately, better. The weather was not thier fault.

5ive at Summer Fest At The Beach

07/06/2026

Did anyone else brave the weather for Summer Fest At The Beach yesterday?

I do love 5ive. It is my third time seeing them.

It was a big shame about the wind and the rain yesterday. That definately put a damper on the day and a strain on the festival infrastructure. 🌧

I was too cold and tired to stay for Craig David, but I have met him before on a Monday. We went out for a drink on Tuesday. I thought it best to not see him again after that. 😀

My kids loved Dizzee Rascal. Feeder was all killer, no filler, and Scouting for Girls are always good fun.

We are back again today amd looking forward to Madness.

The event was pitched to be like T4 on the Beach, it it isnt. With T4, the acts were joined together with audience games and interviews. The hosts yesterday just spent their time advertising the after show Party, promoting the 50% discount on next year's tickets and shouting out the acts coming up. I will be putting my name forward to host next year.
