🎨 There’s a free art exhibition in West Wycombe this weekend — and most of it’s for sale.

West Wycombe Art Group’s annual summer exhibition opens this Friday at the village hall — just a 10-minute drive from High Wycombe town centre. Over 20 local artists and a hall full of work you can actually take home.

No ticket needed — just pop in and see if anything grabs you.

West Wycombe Art Group started in the back room of the George and Dragon in 1982 and membership is capped at 25 — they even operate a waiting list.

This year’s featured artist is Phil Morley Phil Morley - who picked up a brush again after a 45-year gap.

Parking at West Wycombe Village Hall – A Friendly Reminder

The West Wycombe Community Association would like to clarify the parking arrangements at West Wycombe Village Hall following an increase in unauthorised parking.

The Village Hall car park is private property and is managed by the Community Association for the benefit of those who support and use the hall.

The parking spaces are allocated as follows:

• A limited number of permits are available to local residents.

• A reasonable number of permits are allocated to local businesses during normal business hours.

• When the Village Hall is hired for events or activities, parking is included as part of that hire, meaning the car park may be fully occupied.

The car park is currently at full capacity, with all available permits allocated.

We understand that an empty parking space may appear to be available for anyone to use, particularly for “just a couple of hours”. However, those spaces are often required by permit holders returning home, businesses operating within the village, or hall users arriving for a booked event. Unauthorised parking can therefore leave those who have legitimately paid for a space with nowhere to park.

For this reason, if a vehicle without a valid permit is found parked in the car park when the hall is not in use, a polite notice may be placed on the windscreen reminding the driver that the car park is private and requesting that they do not park there again.

This is not intended to be unfriendly or unwelcoming. The West Wycombe Community Association is a volunteer-run charity that is proud to support our village, local organisations and businesses. We simply ask everyone to respect the parking arrangements so that those who hold permits, and those using the Village Hall, can rely on them being available when needed.

We appreciate the understanding and cooperation of our community in helping us manage this valuable local facility for everyone’s benefit.

In August 1959 the village made a final vote to have a hall, and discussed how to run it. Major Ladenberg did not want it used by any groups outside the village. "We shall have all those frightful elements from Wycombe".
And there was a promise that the hall would never open for anything non-religious on Sunday. Lt-Colonel Watson ( the architect) assured her that "the village hall committee would never let the hall fall into the hands of the infidel on Sunday".
