A few more from Chloe & Jamie's wedding day, held in a beautiful little village church in Dolanog, set amongst the Welsh hills, close to where I am based in Welshpool. The church and the marquee was filled with bright, locally grown flowers, that were grown with love by me Lana ~ FloraLana ~ Mid Wales & Shropshire, Uk in Welshpool and Buzzin Blooms | British Flower Grower Carols Garden Cheshire and Anya | Onneley based Grower and Florist of British Cut Flowers.

It was a pleasure working with Chloe in installing the trees in the marquee and also the floral arch outside the church and supplying the flowers. The table and church flowers, aswell as the bouquet and buttonholes were arranged by Chloe and her family and friends.

The passionflower in the cutting garden has gone wild and is also generously offering us fruit aswell.

Sunflowers, passionflower, perennial scabious, cream roses and verbena all still blooming away.

We still have a few weeks of flowers at the walled and cutting garden.

Sometimes, usually early evening, I disappear into my flower room to spend a little time enjoying what is growing in the walled and cutting garden. It really is snatches of time that I take and is by no means easy but something I love to do.

The roses are very generously blooming for a second time at the moment and I couldn't resist gathering some stems and creating this little bowl arrangement.

Start with a good quality 'peat-free' seed compost. You can use multi-purpose (which I am using here) but I always sieve it through to get a lump-free consistency; using a seed compost will save you time sieving.

Take your compost and spread it across your tray, letting it fall into the cells, then once the cells are all filled, firm the compost into the individual cells with your fingers. You will find that a lot of the cells need more compost so spread additional compost over the cells and firm down again. Once the compost is level with the rim of the tray and firmed down in all the cells, you are ready to sow your seed.

It sounds simple right? But it is a common mistake

For a seed to germinate it needs good contact with the compost and no air pockets. By filling and firming well you are eliminating air pockets.

Oh and don't forget to water your tray before you start sowing your seeds because there is a high risk of washing them away if you water after sowing

It was a great floral demonstration today at Sioe Llanfair Caereinion Show in Mid Wales, we was talking about how floral art in the uk is evolving and going back to the 'constance spry' days, before floral foam. Instead using twigs, chicken wire and pin frogs. Talked lots about seeds, germination, when to pick flowers, climate change and also what we have growing in our gardens.

My cutting garden and the walled garden still has lots of colour, texture and fragrance and constantly fills me with inspiration; keeping me happy (most of the time) and grounded.

Above arrangement - garden inspired with dahlias, phlox, jasmine, clematis, pinecone flowers, scabious, didiscus and cosmos, which are still flowering there socks off; definitely keepers going forward.

A few pics from Chloe and Jamie's wedding last weekend; providing the flowers for the family to create the marquee and church flowers and I was asked to create the floral arch in the entrance of the church and the trees in the marquee.
