I’ve been rather quiet lately due to unforeseen circumstances but I was delighted to make a chocolate cake for a customer today. I did lick the bowl whilst it was baking. 🤣

I’m reading a book the story of which takes place in 1715. The diners are served a Salmagundi!

"Salmagundi" refers to a dish, a collection of diverse ingredients arranged artfully on a plate. Historically, the term described a grand, 17th-century European salad featuring meat, fish, eggs, vegetables, and fruits.

In other words. They had a PLONKIT! 😀

Watching James Martin on tv last Saturday I heard about Pipp Doughnuts. Well, I couldn’t just leave it there. Where are they, do they deliver? I asked myself. Better than that - they have a shop in Bristol. So armed with my four year old granddaughter I went in search of said doughnuts. Wow. Amazing. Doughnuts and Cruffins. A lovely cafe to sit end enjoy the delights of their products. £3 each or a box of 6 for £15.
However, they should come with a warning. WEAR A BIB!

Stay cool with a homemade milk shake.
A cup of Frozen fruits
A cup of milk,
A dollop of Greek yoghurt
2 scoops vanilla icecream
Blend and serve. (Makes 2)

If you want a thinner consistency add more milk.

My take on the strawberry “sandwich”
A brioche roll filled with cream cheese and topped with local Cheddar strawberries.
Or
Swap the cheese for thick rich clotted cream.
Don’t forget the Pimms though!
