Such a joyful time had at King's Court Nursing Home this afternoon.
I was very early so as I waited for my audience I was practising a song I’m learning, Blanket on the ground by Billie Jo Spears and Terry entered and his eyes filled up with tears as he sang along.
We had a beautiful exchange for the next 15 minutes as he told me about his younger years and going to the dancehall in Yarmouth, and how music transports him back to that time. He told me of his huge music collection and how he finds it so evocative, he simply can’t help but to dance, sing and feel the memories arise in his heart. (And his eyes) 🤍
He danced in his wheelchair which was a real talent, there’s more than one way to dance and he’s certainly nailed it! He then went onto stand so that he could dance and twirl me around. He was a true gent.
Thank you Terry and to all at Kings court for this special time we shared. 🤍

Happy Monday all!
Cracking start to the week gigging in Cromer at TAMAR HOUSE Care Home so of course it’s obligatory to head to the beach for a stroll. I also got pulled into the church by the sound of the organ being played beautifully. Lucky me. 🤍

🤪You’ll think I’m bonkers for what I’m about to say🤪

I’m always following my greatest joy and I truly believe life is meant to be simple, easy and fun.(apart from what we can’t control of course)

I have been incredibly fortunate to sing at all kinds of events over the last 18 months and do you know what I’ve learned?
That my heart truly belongs in carehomes and dementia cafes.

There is nothing else that feels as good as singing to these beautiful souls. The way they respond to the songs from their era is priceless! I truly feel it as they are transported back in time! 🤍

Us humans can be funny, the way we want to be bigger, work harder, earn more.
I’m going to listen to my heart though which always chooses joy over money, peace over hard work and fulfilment over fame.

There have been many detours and opportunities along my singing journey and they continue to unveil to me what feels most aligned.
I continue to learn.
What a blessing.

Of course I will honour all bookings currently in my diary but going forward institutions such as those mentioned above are my priority and passion.

Pams daughter Doreen sent me this from TADDS, she says she sees how the power of music affects her mum and that the only time she sings is at the group where they have many fantastic entertainers. These places are a God send. 🤍

I’m sure that with every month that passes these guys lose more and more of their inhibitions! It’s so much fun to observe.
Westfield house in Dereham may be a small care home but the staff make enough noise and elicit as much fun as you’d expect to find in a nightclub!
The residents love to watch the show on offer from this very musical bunch!

May need to change the name to Louise’s Karaoke! 🤣
