Did you know employees who feel connected to their workplace culture are 47% less likely to leave? (Gallup)
But culture isn't built in one day.
It's built through moments that shape how people think, feel and connect. 🖤

In today's workplace, opportunities to bring everyone together have become fewer and far more valuable.

That's why the January Kick Off matters more than ever.

So, we asked our team one question:

🤔 What makes a Kick Off great?

Here's what they said. →

This week at asembl: Making the quiet weeks count.

With plenty of the team taking some well-earned time to recharge and fewer live events in the diary, this week has created something equally valuable: space to plan, learn and get ahead of a busy end to the year.

💡 Quiet periods create space for better planning.

The Client Services team took time away from their desks for a workshop focused on a simple question: how can we deliver even more value to our clients?

Because great client service shouldn't only be reviewed when something goes wrong. Making time to challenge, improve and plan ahead is part of delivering it consistently.

Their base for the day was Virgin Hotels London-Shoreditch, a great example of a space that feels unmistakably Virgin while still reflecting the creative character of Shoreditch. One to remember for relaxed socials and creative gatherings.

🌍 First-hand knowledge makes better recommendations.

You can research a destination online. Experiencing it through the eyes of a delegate tells you something different.

Danielle is currently in Budapest with Hungexpo, exploring firsthand what the destination can offer for events and incentives. We'll share what she discovers next week.

🤝 Not every valuable client conversation needs an agenda.

This week marked our third client trip to The Hut Colwell, taking a small group across The Solent for lunch at one of our favourite spots close to home.

No meeting room. No formal agenda. Just time together.

Because sometimes getting away from the day-to-day creates the space for better conversations, stronger relationships and the human connections that great partnerships are built on.

A quieter week? Maybe.
Time well spent? Absolutely.

The workplace has changed.

Around 41% of Great Britain’s adult workforce now works hybrid.

Meaning opportunities to bring everyone together have become fewer and far more valuable.

That's changed the role of the January Kick Off.

It isn't simply the first event of the year anymore.

It's one of the few moments where every employee can hear the same message, from the same leaders, at the same time.

Moments like these aren't built in a few weeks.

They need time, thought and purpose. 🖤

Our latest article explores why the Kick Off matters more than ever and the five strategic questions every leadership team should answer before planning begins.

🌟 Weekly Round-Up with asembl. 🌟

Well, that’s a wrap on the first week of August! From team development and venue visits to planning for future events, it’s been another week of building knowledge, strengthening relationships and delivering for our clients. Here’s what the team have been up to 👇

🏨 Mat and Amy kicked off the week with a site visit to London Hilton London Bankside exploring the venue and its facilities ahead of future client opportunities. Visiting venues first-hand means we can recommend spaces with confidence and ensure every brief is matched with the perfect setting.

🧠 We brought the whole team together for a knowledge session, followed by our monthly All Hands meeting, with a team picnic sandwiched in between. The rain made its first appearance in weeks (timing is everything! ☔), but it certainly didn’t dampen our spirits. Taking time to share knowledge, celebrate successes and connect as a team helps us continue delivering our best for our clients.

💻 The team also enjoyed a virtual catch-up with Nicole Pearce from Donnington & Co, keeping up to date with the latest developments and strengthening another valued partnership.

🦢 Our Ops team headed to Mad Swans for a dedicated team day, packed with insightful conversations and the chance to step back, reflect and share ideas. Investing in our people and how we work together is just as important as the events we deliver.

🌏 Mike travelled to Sydney for a site visit ahead of a 2027 client conference. Planning begins long before delegates arrive, and seeing destinations in person helps us create exceptional experiences from the very first brief.

🏛️ James rounded off the week with a site visit to oldbillingsgate in London, continuing to build our venue knowledge so we can recommend the right spaces for every client and every event.

Another week of learning, planning and working together to create memorable experiences. Here’s to another exciting week ahead! 🖤

🏙️ Amy and Cerys visited Corner Corner for a site inspection, exploring one of London’s newest event spaces and adding another fantastic venue to our ever-growing knowledge bank.

✈️ Penny also headed to the Farnborough International Airshow, where she caught up with Formation, who delivered an impressive ten exhibition stands and activations. Seeing large-scale events in action helps keep us inspired and connected to the latest innovations.

🌿 Zoe and Alice enjoyed a site visit to a beautiful luxury retreat, experiencing the venue first-hand so we can confidently recommend destinations that create memorable client experiences.

📍 Hannah spent the day in London on a series of site visits for some exciting upcoming client events. Seeing venues in person means we can plan every detail with confidence before event day arrives.

🍽️ We welcomed Priya from Arora Group to HQ for a Lunch & Learn, giving the team an insightful update on their portfolio and helping us stay up to date with the latest venue offerings.

🌞 Gavin, Hannah, James and Adam joined some of our clients at The Hut on the Isle of Wight as part of our Summer Socials series. Sunshine, great food and even better company made for another fantastic afternoon of building relationships outside the boardroom.

☕ And finally... big news from Waterlooville HQ! A brand-new Starbucks has opened just around the corner. Naturally, a few of the team popped over on opening day for a coffee and a goody bag. Safe to say our caffeine options have had a serious upgrade! 😂

Another week of learning, connecting and making the most of every opportunity to deliver the best for our clients. Have a fantastic weekend! 🖤

🎤 Katie and Cerys visited a local school with Power of Events, sharing what it’s really like to work in the events industry and inspiring the next generation of event professionals.

🇬🇷 Millie and Adam have been in Greece supporting a client event, delivering another seamless experience from start to finish.

🏎️ Penny and Katie headed to the Goodwood Festival of Speed, catching up with industry contacts and experiencing one of the UK’s most iconic events.

💻 The Venufindr and asembl. teams hosted two virtual client catch-ups. Keeping our venue knowledge fresh means we can continue recommending the best options for our clients.

🎤 Debs spent the day at MAD//Fest London, hearing from industry-leading speakers and making valuable new connections, and will be heading off to Paris this weekend for the IHG Bastille Day Experience.

🥂 Josie is heading to Soho House Brighton for a brunch hosted by ALHI.

Another week of learning, connecting and delivering great experiences for our clients. Have a fantastic weekend! 🖤

Another week of client events, roadshows, networking and incentives for the asembl. team. Here’s what we’ve been up to this week👇

🇬🇷 Hollie headed up an incentive trip to Athens, delivering a memorable experience for attendees. One of the highlights of the trip was a stunning boat cruise along the Athens Riviera, providing the perfect opportunity to take in the beautiful coastline and spend time together outside of the conference setting.

🏙️ Sophie and Julie supported a client event at L42, helping to ensure everything ran smoothly and providing on-site support throughout.

🗣️James and Danielle were busy supporting two clients at Legal Tech Talk, one of the legal industry’s leading events, ensuring a successful experience for everyone involved.

🚚 Millie continued her support of the Softcat roadshow, this week heading to Manchester and helping keep everything running seamlessly behind the scenes.

🥗 Steve and Zoe attended a client lunch at Gaucho at The O2 in Greenwich, taking the opportunity to strengthen relationships and discuss exciting plans for the months ahead.

🎁 Alice headed to the Mojo Merch Show at the Marriott in Leicestershire, exploring the latest trends, ideas and innovations in the promotional merchandise world.

☀️ As we wrap up another busy week, we’re pleased to see the sunshine making an appearance. Here’s hoping everyone gets the chance to switch off, recharge and enjoy a well-deserved sunny weekend.
