Today, we’re reaching out not just as colleagues, but as a community.

One of our much-loved tutors is currently facing a life-changing health challenge and is in need of a kidney donor. He has dedicated so much of his time, care, and energy to supporting and inspiring others, and now he need support in return.

Finding a living kidney donor can be incredibly difficult, but it can also be life-saving. Even sharing this post could help reach someone who may be able to make a difference.

A truly standout moment for Sunderland! BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend will take place in Herrington Country Park from Friday 22nd May to Sunday 24th of May 2026, bringing one of the UK’s largest and most high-profile music events to our city. Attracting tens of thousands of attendees each day and a national broadcast audience across BBC platforms, the event showcases some of the biggest names in music. We are incredibly proud that Sunderland has been chosen to host such a significant Hallmark event, placing the city firmly in the national spotlight.

We are proud to announce that Sunderland STAGES will be hosting our own activation on site at BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend and here’s what to expect…
