The National Pony Society is delighted to announce, in partnership with the Agria Royal International Horse Show, the launch of the Cases Ltd/ National Pony Society Pendley Supreme In Hand Championship.

This prestigious new championship has been established to celebrate excellence in horse and pony breeding, presentation and conformation, while providing in-hand exhibitors with a new pathway to compete in the International Arena at Hickstead in July 2027.

Qualifying classes will be held at selected National Pony Society affiliated competitions throughout the season, with the first qualifiers taking place at the 𝐍𝐏𝐒 𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐰𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝, 𝐌𝐚𝐥𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧, 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝟒𝐭𝐡 – 𝟔𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔. Entries for these qualifiers will be accepted on the day.

The Championship has been made possible through the vision and dedication of former NPS President Sara Hird, together with the generous sponsorship of Suzanne and Ian Burns of Cases Sheet Metal Fabrications, whose support has enabled this exciting new initiative to become a reality.

The Championship Final will be open to qualified registered Mountain & Moorland ponies, British Riding & Show Hunter Pony Breeding, Hunter Breeding, Hack & Riding Horse Breeding, with the winner receiving the prestigious Pendley Cup.

Further details will be announced in due course, so keep an eye on our social media channels over the coming weeks as we reveal qualifying details, venues and everything you need to know.

The WPCS would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone for the incredible support received for our 125th Anniversary Show through sponsorship and entries. Your continued support is greatly appreciated, and we look forward to welcoming you all to the RWAS Showground, Builth Wells, on 8th & 9th August 2026 for what promises to be a fantastic celebration.

We would also like to confirm a change of judge for the HOYS Working Hunter Pony classes. Mrs Janice Parry (Talponciau) will now be judging the conformation.

Please note entries for the HOYs classes can be taken on the day at an extra charge. Limited stables are also still available so please contact the Society office asap if you require one.

To the absolute numbskulls that thought it was clever to steal a load of meat out of a dump freezer last night, please do not consume under any circumstances that meat was destined for dog food and will make you very ill.

Herberts Burger Barn will be closed Next Friday 17th July whilst we take time to say farewell to Benj who sadly passed away on Wednesday 24th June.

A key member of the Happy Herefords team, for all of us Benj was our rock. There in all weathers from the blazing hot sunshine of the Royal Welsh and NPS Summer Champs to battling with wind and rain at Thanet Earth and sub zero temperatures in the middle of winter at Southam rugby club he was our chief chipman , cheese collector, HR manager and mentor to many, fetcher and carrier of all things.

This weeks special was one of Benjs so we're rolling it out one last time and yes the Guinness will be from the Peacock Inn nextdoor.

Few people are ever irreplaceable, Benj will be one of them.
