🏆❤️ Not quite our year… but this one meant more than just an award.

Well, I won’t lie, I’m gutted! 💔

Sadly, Train & Track Play didn’t bring home an award tonight, but being a finalist in the largest category alongside so many amazing businesses is something I’m incredibly proud of.

But this one was a little more personal for me.

The last 18 months have been incredibly tough, both personally and in business, and I would have absolutely loved to have brought that award home, especially in memory of my mum. ❤️

Mum was such a big supporter of Train & Track Play, helping us along the way and believing in what we were creating.

She also worked with people with special needs and was involved with the Special Olympics, something that feels even more meaningful now as Train & Track Play continues to evolve.

Our SEND-inclusive sessions are becoming such an important part of what we do, and behind the scenes my head is bursting with ideas about how we can take this further. Not just providing somewhere to play, but creating opportunities, building confidence, friendships, independence and hopefully even future employment opportunities for young people and adults with additional needs.

It’s still very much a work in progress, but something I’m incredibly passionate about.

I think Mum would have loved seeing where this journey is heading. ❤️

So yes, I’m disappointed. I would have loved that trophy, not just for me, but for everyone who has been part of this journey.

But tonight I have a finalist certificate, some lovely memories, and a reminder that even through some of the hardest times, we’ve kept going.

Maybe we didn’t bring home the trophy, but we’re building something that means so much more than an award. 🚂❤️

Thank you to every family who supports us, every child who comes through our doors, and everyone who believes in what we’re trying to achieve.

And congratulations to all the winners tonight! 🏆

Mum, I hope I’m making you proud. ❤️

🚆 3:15am… and we’re off!

After another pre-4:30am start yesterday, I’m officially running on caffeine, determination and very little sleep! 🥱😂

I’m still not feeling 100%, from some sort of lurgy but the show must go on!

A few trains, a couple of changes, and hopefully a strong coffee or two later… Birmingham, here I come! ☕🚂

Who needs sleep anyway?! 🤣

Meet Nico and Archie 🚂These two have been part of Train & Track Play for years, and they're now old enough to come along...

Meet Nico and Archie 🚂

These two have been part of Train & Track Play for years, and they're now old enough to come along and "help" us on Saturdays and in the summer holidays. (Really they're incredibly independent and just get on with things in their own way!)

Nico started coming when he was 7 or 8, completely Thomas obsessed, and nothing has changed. Recently, he and Archie put all of our layouts together completely on their own while their mums quietly watched. When Grandad asked them to connect his Thomas tunnel bridge to another part of the layout, they did it perfectly.

Nico's favourite is Proteus the yellow engine. I once asked his mum, "Do you want to take him home for a week?" Her reply: "NO! You'll never get him back!" 😂 He always puts him back at the end, bless him, until next time.

Archie first came to our sensory sessions when he was non-verbal and very sensitive to noise. Now he's found his voice and knows exactly what he wants. "Archie, do you want a job?" "No thank you." 😂

Watching children who came along because they loved trains grow up, gain confidence, make friends and join our team is pretty special. ❤️
