A gem of a university-based conference in some fantastic venues.....

Since Delegant took over the association management of an organisation established in 1969, a significant focus has been placed on delivering its 2026 Annual Conference. Held over three days at the University of Manchester, the conference was a tremendous success. The programme featured high-quality scientific sessions during the day, complemented by a networking evening on the first day and a conference dinner on the second, providing delegates with valuable opportunities to connect, collaborate and celebrate.

The Conference was really well received by delegates, speakers and sponsors. Chair of the association's conference committee commented "Many thanks for putting everything together. This has been fantastic."

Today we celebrate the 15th Anniversary of Delegant.....

When Angie Major and Adrian Parrott founded Delegant fifteen years ago they wanted to do something different. The two of them were very different. Angie the eternal diplomat, and Adrian quite the opposite. Angie the advocate of "gut feel" whereas Adrian was methodical and analytical. You couldn't really get two more different people, and that's what made it special.

From the outset the strategy and philosophy was clear. Between the two of them they could pretty much do everything needed, and if they couldn't then they would learn rapidly. Bootstrapping the company rather than using external loans or investors meant it took time to get to the point of recruiting more staff but that arrived quicker than expected. As the customer base grew as did the size of the Team but growth was managed intelligently. Instead of having "all eggs in one basket" they carefully managed the service offering to allow Delegant to differentiate from other event and association management companies. Having the full range of specialist functions within the Team meant nothing was outsourced and our customers did not need multiple contracts with several providers. We became in effect the "one-stop-shop". We now have everything from finance to event operations, marketing and social media to membership management, graphic design to website building... and much more.

As COVID hit we were well placed to grow. Instead of having to furlough staff, we in fact increased our headcount by 20% through the pandemic. A greater requirement was placed on us by our customers to support their members, delegates, and sponsors. This meant a huge requirement on social media, on graphic design, on member support, and on virtual events. This meant we were busier than ever. This continued out of COVID when in-person events roared back to life.

Since COVID our customer base has grown, our Team has grown, and above all the love of what we do has grown. That's all built around our fantastic and highly skilled Teams and the ethos we regularly share with our customers:

Things were certainly hotting up for one of the Delegant Teams last week.....

AI continues to be one of the hottest topics across the industry, and our team recently delivered an AI Symposium during two of the hottest June days ever recorded in the UK. The event brought together delegates and speakers from around the world for a programme of interactive workshops, expert presentations, panel discussions and a networking evening.

The event was a tremendous success and marked the fifth annual edition of this flagship meeting. Previous editions, held in cities including Frankfurt, Basel and Copenhagen, have been equally well received (and equally as hot), further establishing the event as a key fixture in the industry's annual calendar.

Another successful event delivered.....

Recently one of our Teams at Delegant successfully managed and delivered an international 200+ person 2.5 day event in Berlin. The event started with more than 50 of the delegates taking a walking tour of the city, and this was followed by a Networking evening on the "Beach". Two full days of sessions followed the opening activities along with the fantastic conference dinner on the middle night.

These events are more than a year in the making and so our Team took the opportunity to dress up for the Dinner to celebrate the results, as pictured by our fantastic event photographer, Jacqueline Cross.

Join us in congratulating Laura on her promotion.....

We are delighted to announce the promotion of Laura New to the position of Head of Finance at Delegant.

Laura has been with us for over 7 years and has been instrumental in the growth of Delegant. As well as managing the finances of Delegant, Laura is also Finance Lead for many of the membership associations that we manage.

A new opportunity has opened to become part of the Delegant team......

We’re hiring a Finance Administrator to join us on a permanent, part-time basis.

Based in our Ardington, Oxfordshire office, this role supports the finance function across multiple associations, events and internal projects. Working closely with colleagues across the business, you will play an important role in keeping our financial processes organised, accurate and running smoothly.

This position would suit someone who is highly organised, detail focused and confident juggling multiple tasks. Previous experience with finance systems or bookkeeping is helpful but not essential, as full training will be provided.

If you enjoy working as part of a collaborative team and are keen to develop your skills in a varied finance administration role, we would love to hear from you.

When Scotland Stole the Show......

Kate and Sophie from the Delegant team recently delivered an annual conference for one of the membership associations we manage.

Held at the fantastic Apex Dunblane Hydro Hotel in Scotland, the event brought together more than 120 delegates from across the UK for a programme packed with professional sessions, networking and collaboration.

As always, the conference dinner was a highlight. Delegates embraced the "Great Scot!" theme with enthusiasm, showcasing some fantastic costumes celebrating the best of Scotland. A traditional bagpiper welcomed guests to the evening before everyone enjoyed a memorable dinner and ceilidh that had the room buzzing from start to finish.

A great example of how the right balance of educational content, networking opportunities and social activities can create an event that delegates will remember long after they return home.

Earlier this month, the Delegant team supported the delivery of a major health and care research management conference.

Set within the impressive surroundings of the Hilton Birmingham Metropole, the event brought together professionals from across the sector for several days of discussion, collaboration, and knowledge sharing.

Our Technical Director, Adrian, reflects on the event: “It was a fantastic team effort to deliver this conference. A record number of attendees, posters and speakers made this the biggest conference for this client ever and what an event it was. Really proud of our Team for making this so special.”
