⚔️ A Call to the Community – Vikings In Vale Park! 🔥

We are incredibly proud to be supporting Wirral Mencap with their upcoming Viking-themed event on Saturday 27th June 2026 at Vale Park… and we cannot wait to bring a taste of the Viking world with us! 🛡️

The Wirral Viking Festival will be showcasing a glimpse of what we do best including:

✨ Stunning Viking-inspired artwork

📜 Viking Story Telling

⚔️ Authentic reenactment displays

📸 Epic photo opportunities with Freyja & the mighty Jörmungandr

This is more than just an event it’s a chance to come together as a community, celebrate creativity, history, and support the incredible work that Wirral Mencap do.

They are also looking for 2 - 3 themed stall holders to be involved so please reach out to us if you'd like to be involved and we'll put you in touch with Wirral Mencap.

⚔️ Wirral Viking Festival Reminder ⚔️

To our amazing community of supporters, traders, performers and Viking enthusiasts — thank you for the incredible enthusiasm and support you continue to show for the Wirral Viking Festival.

We want to remind everyone that the 2026 festival has been postponed and will now take place on Saturday 24th & Sunday 25th June 2028.

This decision was not made lightly. By moving the event to 2028, we are giving ourselves the time needed to secure stronger funding and sponsorship, ensuring the long-term success, growth and sustainability of the festival.

Our vision has always been to create something truly special for the Wirral — a festival that celebrates our Viking heritage with incredible reenactments, music, crafts, storytelling, fire, and community spirit.

Taking this extra time will allow us to make the 2028 event bigger, stronger and more spectacular than ever before.

The excitement for our return has already been incredible, and we cannot wait to gather the shield wall once again.

Due to the incredible enthusiasm, engagement, and excitement surrounding the return of the Wirral Viking Festival in 2028, we are delighted to announce that trader and performer applications are now open earlier than planned.

We have already been contacted by many fantastic traders, artisans, entertainers, and performers eager to be part of the festival, and we’re thrilled to see such strong support for the return of this much-loved event.

The longships are already stirring…
We are absolutely thrilled by the incredible level of interest we’ve received for Wirral Viking Festival 2028!

The messages, the enquiries, the trader's interest, the performers reaching out it’s clear that the Viking spirit on the Wirral is alive and growing stronger than ever.

2028 is set to be something truly special. Bigger. Bolder. Rooted in heritage, community, craftsmanship, music, fire and storytelling.

For all traders, performers, reenactors, musicians, healers, makers and storytellers who have contacted us — thank you. Your enthusiasm means the world.

⚔️ Trader & Performer Applications for 2028 will officially open in January 2027.

⚔️ Wirral Viking Festival 2028 – Dates & Venue Announced! ⚔️

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that the Wirral Viking Festival 2028 will take place on Saturday 24th & Sunday 25th June 2028 at Caldy Rugby Club

After much planning behind the scenes, we are delighted to confirm not only our dates and venue, but also some important improvements for 2028…

🚗 On-site parking will be available at Caldy Rugby Club, making access to the festival easier than ever.

🚌 Multiple mini buses will be running throughout the event for those who are unable to drive. These will operate from clearly signed pick-up and drop-off points to ensure smooth and simple transport to and from the festival.

We are committed to making 2028 our most accessible and welcoming event yet, while continuing to bring you the immersive living history, epic battles, music, traders and storytelling you love.

Mark your calendars – 24th & 25th June 2028 – and prepare to step back into the Viking Age once more.

More details will be released as we continue building something truly special for 2028.

Wirral Viking Festival Statement on the Proposed CO₂ Pipeline.

As organisers of the Wirral Viking Festival, our entire mission is rooted in protecting, celebrating, and educating people about Wirral’s heritage, landscape, and history.

For that reason, we feel it is important to make our position clear.

We DO NOT support the proposed CO₂ compression pipeline and associated above-ground installations being routed through Wirral.

This is not a political stance.

This is a heritage, environmental, and community stance.

Wirral is home to:

💥 Ancient monuments

💥 Viking and early medieval heritage sites

💥 Protected wildlife habitats

💥 Farmland and greenbelt landscapes that have remained largely unchanged for centuries

The proposed infrastructure risks permanent disruption to land that is historically, culturally, and environmentally significant.

As a festival dedicated to bringing Wirral’s past to life and helping people understand the importance of our landscape, we cannot support a project that threatens the very ground our history stands on.

We encourage everyone in our community to:
Learn about the proposal
Consider the long-term impact on heritage sites and wildlife

Make their own informed voices heard through the appropriate channels.

Protecting Wirral’s past, present, and future is something we all share responsibility for.

Our land tells a story. Once it is damaged, that story cannot be rebuilt.

⚔️ A BIG IDEA FOR 2028… and we need your thoughts! ⚔️

We’re working with Wirral Met College on a potential build project for 2028.

Imagine a Viking longship on the festival field that you can actually step inside.

A ship with: 🛶 Access points to climb aboard

🛡️ Shield walls along the sides
⚓ Working oars you can sit and row
🏹 Space for children (and grown-ups!) to play, explore and learn
📚 An interactive feature built by students as part of their coursework

Not just a display… but a hands-on Viking experience.

This would be designed and built by the amazing students at Wirral Met as a legacy project for the festival and for the community.
