We’re always looking for new experiences to bring to The Wirral Viking Festival 2028, and we’ve got another idea brewing…

🍷 VIKING W**E TASTING SESSIONS 🍷

A relaxed, adults-only tasting experience featuring a selection of Scandinavian w**es, with the chance to discover some of the flavours coming out of the modern Nordic w**e scene.

Think Vikings… but slightly more civilised. 😂

🌿 Learn a little about Nordic w**e, ingredients and traditions

The Wirral Viking Festival returns 24th & 25th June 2028 and we're looking for brilliant people to help bring our Viking world to life!

For 2028, we want our visitors to do more than simply watch.

We want them to make, learn, create, explore, experience and get involved.

We're now interested in hearing from individuals, groups, craftspeople and organisations who could deliver workshops, demonstrations, talks or interactive activities across the festival.

📚 HERITAGE & EDUCATION

We're looking for historians, archaeologists, researchers, educators and passionate speakers to deliver short talks and activities in our Viking Wirral Heritage Tent.

Topics could include:

We'd also LOVE to create a giant Viking Wirral Map, helping visitors discover the Norse history and place names right on their doorstep.

We'd particularly love to develop Threads of the Norns — a peaceful mindful-weaving experience accompanied by gentle storytelling.

We're exploring a calm memorial activity within Erin's Space, where visitors can remember somebody important to them and contribute to a beautiful temporary memorial installation.

🎓 We'd also love to work with students and emerging creatives, including exploring workshop opportunities through our relationship with Wirral Met College.

⚔️ WORKING TOGETHER FOR 2028 — WIRRAL MET COLLEGE ⚔️

We’re incredibly excited to be working with Wirral Met College once again as we prepare for the Wirral Viking Festival 2028! 🛡️

Wirral Met have been involved with the festival since the very beginning and have played a particularly special part in bringing one of our most ambitious projects to life the construction of our Viking boat for our spectacular boat-burning finale. 🔥🛶

The project isn't just about building a Viking boat. It gives students the opportunity to take what they are learning, expand their imaginations, develop practical skills and be part of creating something completely unique for a major community event.

For us, that's exactly what the Wirral Viking Festival should be about: heritage, creativity, education, community and providing opportunities for people to get involved.

We’re enormously grateful for the support and enthusiasm Wirral Met have shown the festival from the beginning, and we can't wait to see what their talented students help us create for 2028.

⚔️ THE WIRRAL VIKING FESTIVAL 2028 IS TAKING SHAPE! ⚔️

We might still have a little while to wait, but behind the scenes the programme for The Wirral Viking Festival 2028 is already coming together and we are incredibly excited about what we're planning! 🔥

We're working on a fantastic mix of new activities, displays, live music and experiences, alongside everything you'd expect from a weekend celebrating Viking-age history, heritage and culture.

We're incredibly excited to share just some of the experiences we're planning for Wirral Viking Festival 2028!

✨ Inclusive & Sensory Activities – Creating a festival that everyone can enjoy.

🧘 Health & Wellbeing – Meditation, yoga, relaxation and time to reconnect.

🏹 Physical Activities – Have a go at archery, axe throwing and other hands-on experiences.

🎨 Creative Workshops – Get involved with traditional crafts and creative activities.

👗 Historical Fashion – Discover what people really wore in the Viking Age and beyond, with opportunities to learn about historical clothing and textiles.

📚 Educational Talks – Hear from knowledgeable speakers covering Viking history, archaeology, mythology and more.

🌿 Spiritual Experiences – Explore Norse spirituality, traditions and reflective spaces.

And of course our fantastic reenactments & Boat burning.
..and that's just the beginning! We have plenty more announcements to come over the coming months.

An Update on Trader Refunds for 2026

We wanted to provide an update regarding trader refunds following the postponement of the Wirral Viking Festival 2026.

Firstly, we would like to sincerely thank everyone who has shown us patience and understanding over the past few months. We know that waiting for a refund is frustrating, and we genuinely appreciate your support while we work through this process.

Since the postponement, many trader refunds have already been successfully processed, and we continue to issue further refunds in line with our repayment schedule.

Every trader will receive their refund, and we remain fully committed to ensuring this happens fairly and accurately.

Unfortunately, due to the scale of the refunds and the need to manage them responsibly, the process has taken longer than we originally anticipated.

To ensure every trader is treated equally and no one is overlooked, we have extended the refund schedule, with all remaining trader refunds expected to be completed by October 2026.

The Wirral Viking Festival has always been built around its incredible community of traders, performers, volunteers and visitors, and we are determined to honour every commitment we have made.

✨ Workshop Announcement – Erin's Space ✨

We are delighted to announce one of the very first workshops coming to Erin's Space at the Wirral Viking Festival 2028.

🧘 Yoga & Sound Bathing with Zoe 🎶

Erin's Space is being created as a peaceful sanctuary within the festival, a place to slow down, take a breath, and reconnect with yourself amid the excitement of the weekend.

Join Zoe Buxton for relaxing yoga sessions followed by a deeply restorative sound bath, designed to help you unwind, reduce stress, and leave feeling refreshed and rebalanced. Whether you're completely new to yoga or have years of experience, everyone is welcome.

This is just the beginning of the wellbeing activities we have planned for Erin's Space, and we can't wait to share more with you over the coming months.

Here at Wirral Viking Festival, we love championing the incredible creativity within our local community, so we're delighted to shine a spotlight on a fantastic new children's book created by a talented Wirral resident!

Bringing imagination, adventure and storytelling together, this wonderful book is a brilliant way to inspire young readers and encourage a love of books. Supporting local authors and artists is something we're passionate about, and it's always fantastic to see members of our community achieving such wonderful things.

Are there any Star Trek fans in our Viking Horde?
We absolutely love the idea of Starfleet officers "investigating" our Viking camp as though they've accidentally beamed into the 9th century! 😄

If you're a Trekkie, we'd love to see you in full Star Trek costume at the Wirral Viking Festival 2028.

Imagine Captains, Vulcans, Klingons, Borg... all exploring our Viking village, meeting the warriors and trying to explain the Prime Directive to a Norse chieftain! ⚔️🚀

After all... who's to say our Vikings haven't already had a First Contact? 😉
