A huge thank you to Wight Aid for their support in providing funds for our Parkinsons Table Tennis Group. From their grant we’ve been able to buy new equipment to support this new and popular support group.
A round up of our April grantees proudly presented by one of our long standing supporters Gary Peace from ESID Ltd.
We had three wonderful groups join us for the cheque presentation which was a great opportunity for them to share in detail the invaluable work they carry out. This round the table conversation amazingly lead to how each group has now planned to assist each other to build up work experience opportunities and how they can all assist one another in the near future.
Stenbury Hall - Wroxall’s Community Venue For Hire received £3,580 towards an inclusive table tennis project. Spurred on by the success of its Isle of Wight League team, the association has seen a surge in interest in the sport and it is expanding the sessions to include people who would normally find it uncomfortable in the main sessions, particularly those with Parkinson’s Disease.
Isle of Wight Duke of Edinburgh Charitable Association received £1,500 towards its Gold Award expedition in August. The young people who have progressed through the lower levels of the DofE Award and shown maturity and self-confidence, are now ready to embark on a four-day camping expedition in the Lake District for their Gold Award.
