Said yes to the dress but now questioning it
I purchased my dress a few weeks ago. It was my first time trying dresses and I went on my own. I’m keeping my dress a surprise from everyone so posting here for advice.

I thought I wanted a silk, strapless ball gown with a basque waist and slit but fell in love with the Watters Reko dress (first pic). It gave me romantic/vintage vibes and was so different from everything else I’ve seen so very me.

Now I’m wondering if I made the right choice and should have tried on more. I want to be super cinched in and have a bit of cleave.

One thing that made it somewhat difficult to see myself in the dresses they tried on was how large they were making some of the proportions look off. The other pics are some of the other dresses I tried on that I somewhat liked.

As a side note, anyone else feel like social media makes you second guess your decision? I felt so good about my dress until I started seeing other ones on Instagram. 😩

suggestions for back of the dress?
said yes to the dress last week. it was exactly what I was looking for style wise and only $250 i could not pass it up. the only issue i’m having is the string up back I feel like it cheapens the look. Any ideas of what to change the back to? does the modesty panel and bow in the corset back pictures take away from the modernness of the dress? should I see if we can switch to a thicker satin ribbon instead of the shoelace looking string?

Is #1 actually the best option??
I've tried on a bunch of dresses. For context, I fixated on #2 for months and really thought it was going to be my dress but after trying it on, while it was beautiful, I thought the bodice was too long for me (I'm v short). I think I've landed on number 1 (two piece, can wear long skirt for ceremony and change into short skirt for the party while keeping the corset on). I feel good in it, it is definitely more expensive than the rest of the ones I've tried though. The cons of the others are that they all seem like things I need to change out of to really dance. Thoughts??

Dress!....?
I just bought my dress!!! And of course as soon as I get home I worry I didn't consider all the factors: train length, veil, how it photographs as a silhouette, outdoor ceremony, how it moves, how it'll look with the decor, etc etc.

Help! Should I have gone more fitted? Shorter? More flowy? The venue is a beautiful ranch with cabin vibes and lots of outdoor photo ops.

1 - the dress I got! But with a blush undertone, stiffer skirt so it lays better....but will it be too stiff? I want a soft, romantic, slightly boho vibe 2 - the train 3 - the second favorite. I LOVE how this one photographs but it was a little itchy....but that might have been the petticoat that I would take out anyway 4 - the train 5 - fitted

I didn't think about whether I would like the train after the ceremony, I just loved them in the shop. And the dress was non refundable so I am stuck regardless and just want help thinking through it!

Should this be taken in?
Just found this at my local thrift! I think it’s a damn near perfect, but I have a curvier body and I’m not really used to this shape on me. It looks like this dress is meant to be columnish, but I’m wondering if I should take it in at the waist or just let it be. Although I’m liking how my belly is not so apparent without any cinching lol.

LA brides - where should I shop for dresses?
I went to Lovella Bridal in Glendale recently and figured out I like strapless gowns with a V neckline. The silhouette and neckline in the first picture are perfect, but im not a fan of the visible boning in the bust.

I really liked the fabric and the modified A-line silhouette in the second pic, but I wasn’t a fan of the yellowish ivory color.

I kinda like the silhouette and “structure” (not the color) in the last picture.

For context: my wedding will be in summer 2027 in East Los Angeles, I’m based in the US, and my dress budget is under $20k.

Any recommendations for LA boutiques or designers with this kind of style (and any sample sales going on)? I prefer brick and mortar stores because I’m paranoid and absolutely need to try on the dress before ordering.

Engagement photoshoot dress advice - is this okay or should I keep looking?
Hi everyone!

Currently looking for a dress for my engagement photoshoot in NYC, it’ll be a more casual vibe (subway station, pizza, vintage Photo Booth), so it doesn’t have to be super dressy.

I got the balia dress from reformation (pictured above) and I liked how it looked, but I’m wondering if I can do better or if it’s flattering; as I’ve received some comments that it doesn’t work on my body type.

What silhouettes or stores would y’all recommend? I’m looking for something romantic, elegant, and ideally something that looks good on me 😅 I’ll be looking at these pics for the rest of my life so while I really like this dress I hope I don’t regret it later and am open to feedback/suggestions

For reference I’m 4’ 11” 34C 0/XS but a bit curvy so I feel like it’s hard to find something that balances my frame out.

Thank you in advance 🫶

Chapel or Cathedral Veil for This Dress?
Would love some thoughts, my wedding dress is pictured above along with some veils I’m interested in. (The veil I’m wearing in the photo is just one I tried on to see what it’d look like.) Should I pair the dress with a chapel veil or go full cathedral? At current, I don’t have/know the train length. Figured I’d eyeball it.

Second guessing my choice
As someone who isn’t typically into patterns or lots of colors in my day to day life, I surprised myself when I didn’t particularly love how simple wedding dresses looked on me. I ended up ordering a full lace dress and was very happy about it but now that it’s here, I am second guessing my choice.

At the time I felt like it was the right choice because the venue is at a botanical garden, and I wanted something a little out of the box for me. The dress hasn’t been tailored yet, so maybe that’s the reason?

Wedding dress and cape came in
My ‘Jasmine’ and ‘Evil Queen’ cape finally came in! I’m extra excited now! I’m going to wear the veil during the ceremony and switch to the cape for the reception, we’re going with a Dark Fantasy type of vibe.

Worried I made a mistake
I fell in love with a dress online and went into the store to find a “backup dress” that I could get if my dress that I ordered online didn’t work out. The store didn’t have my dream dress in store and would only let me exchange it for store credit if I ordered it online and didn’t like it on me, which is why I wanted to find a backup dress.

While in the store, I found another dress that my kids really liked on me and I thought was very nice as well. The catch was that it was the last one and I was unable to order it (it’s a size too big on me). They gave me $200 off of the dress and told me it would be final sale. I panicked bought it and now I’m freaking out and still thinking about my dream dress.

Gloves or no gloves?
I feel like I’m this 🤏🏽 close to saying yes to the dress pictured , but I’m still on the fence about the gloves. When I first put the whole look together in the store, I felt absolutely beautiful, and my friends and family loved it too. The whole ensemble just feels so classic and elegant and I love it objectively. But now that I’ve had some time to think, I’m starting to wonder if the satin gloves look a little too costumey.

The wedding is in late December, so they feel seasonally appropriate, and I’ve heard you can make a small slit in the glove to make the ring exchange easier. Just looking for some outside perspective. What do we think?

ThriftFest UpCycled

To all artists, visitors, partners, vendors, volunteers and contractors.

We are upcycling and repurposing this year’s Festival of Thrift in response to 2020… an extraordinary year full of unforeseen challenges and hardships for all of us.

After weeks of careful consideration we have come to the decision, along with our great friends and partners at Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council, that holding a large-scale festival in Kirkleatham will not be possible this year.

However, although our Festival of Thrift event scheduled to take place in Kirkleatham on September 12 and 13 2020 has been officially cancelled, in our true thrifty style, we will instead be going ahead with a repurposed Festival that has had a socially distanced makeover for 2020.
