Today is world mental health day 2025 ✨️

We are here to help spread awareness and its a big part of what we do everyday 🥰

So What Is World Mental Health Day?

World Mental Health Day, Oct. 10, shines a spotlight on the importance of mental wellbeing. It’s a moment to raise awareness, challenge stigma and advocate for stronger policies and services to support mental health for all. The day also invites us to share inspiring stories, practical resources and hope. It reminds us all that mental health is just as vital as physical health. Around the world, individuals and organizations recognize the observance through events, campaigns and conversations that foster connection, understanding and united action.

When Is World Mental Health Day?
World Mental Health Day is observed every year on Oct. 10. The World Federation for Mental Health established the date in 1992 to raise global awareness about mental health issues and mobilize efforts in support of mental health.

Why Is Supporting Mental Health Important?
Mental health is essential to overall wellbeing, yet millions of people still face barriers to care. In the U.S. alone, nearly 30 million people lack access to the mental health and substance use treatment they need. These aren’t just numbers — they’re our neighbors, coworkers, friends and family. The impact goes beyond individuals, touching workplaces, schools and communities. Consider these statistics:

1 in 5 U.S. adults experience mental illness each year.
1 in 6 U.S. youth aged 6-17 experience a mental health disorder each year.
1 in 20 U.S. adults experience serious mental illness each year.
50% of all lifetime mental illness begins by age 14, and 75% by age 24
Su***de is the second-leading cause of death among people aged 10-14.
Mental health is not just a personal concern — it’s a shared responsibility. Supporting mental health strengthens families and communities. When we prioritize mental wellbeing, we create healthier workplaces, reduce social and economic costs, and foster a society where everyone can thrive. We also build resilience. We help individuals and communities navigate life’s challenges with strength and hope.

How Is the National Council Observing?
This World Mental Health Day, we’re uniting under the theme “One in Mind.” It’s a reminder that mental wellbeing connects us all — across experiences, locations and roles. Everyone deserves compassion, support and the tools to thrive. Our campaign emphasizes the importance of breaking stigma, advocating for care and standing together in solidarity. We’ll demonstrate our support by hosting webinars, sharing stories and providing resources that spark conversation and inspire action in every community.

How Can I Get Involved?
Want to help us celebrate progress and raise awareness? Here are a few ways you can get involved in our campaign now and all year long:

Stay Informed: On Oct. 1, we sat down with mental health experts to explore how to turn awareness into year-round action. Catch up by watching the webinar recording!
Make a mark. Get trained in Mental Health First Aid so you know how to respond to someone facing a mental health or substance use challenge or crisis.
Give back. Support the National Council’s work to make mental wellbeing —including recovery from substance use — a reality for everyone, everywhere.
Take action. Download our 10 Ways to Take Action for Mental Wellbeing flyer to discover more simple ways you can support mental wellbeing.
This World Mental Health Day, join us in building a world where mental wellbeing isn’t just possible — it’s promised. Your participation makes a difference!
