Geoff Price Bio
Born: 1939 Died: 2016
Geoff has remained one of the most collectable artists in the UK, with his paintings now almost impossible to come by. Technically brilliant, stylistically and endlessly vibrant, he created masterly evocations of some of the most beautiful elements of Horse Racing.
It was in the 1960s and 70s that Geoff enjoyed a career as a jockey, where he used to exercise horses at the stables of the late Donald ‘Ginger’ McCain.
Geoff then trained at the Mid-Cheshire College and went on to study at as a mature student and graduated in Fine Art from Liverpool Polytechnic in 1977. He once said of his artwork, “As a result of my association with horse racing I try to capture its pageantry - jockey’s colours, crowds, but more importantly it’s the movement, the physical power of jockey and horse; that I want to convey through my work.”
Speaking about his art work, Labour Cllr Martyn Delaney said; “He had this way of capturing movement in his paintings, bringing them alive. There was so much energy in his paintings.”
