Growing up in the country suburbs near the city of Bath, I had great ambition and creativity. I loved working with fabrics and found that I had a flare for Costume Making. In 2012, I completed my degree at University in Costume Production with a First Class Honours. This is where I began my journey into the Costume and Fashion Industry. My skills are extremely varied from standard Garment Alterati

ons through to Couture Bridal Alterations and Creative Interiors. I take pride in the work that I do and enjoy every aspect. Alongside running my own business, I also work as a Freelance Costumier within the television and film industry. Please do not hesitate to contact me - no job is too big or too small. ✨ Real Bride Review ✨

Brides can come to me with all sorts of feelings for their first fitting - nerves, excitement or just pure worries about their dress even fitting.

At Leah’s first appointment with me, she was elated when we were able to do her dress up (& it even needed nipping in across the bodice.) Although she loved her dress choice, she did feel out of her comfort zone so it was wonderful to see how happy she felt by the final fitting and her words of thanks, say it all. The dress needed a full waist lift, strap shortening and collar re-cut/re-set, taking in, full hem shortening and a bustle.

I was honoured to look after Leah, especially as I had made her a couple of special memory bears a couple of years ago out of her children’s clothing.

To read the way in which I helped her enjoy the fittings process and support her confidence on the day, is extremely heartwarming.

✨ The best delivery - FLOWERS 💐 ✨

I was so surprised and very happy to have these thank you flowers delivered to me from my beautiful bride Laura! I had the absolute privilege of making her a bespoke wedding dress out of the same dress that her mum got married in over 30 years ago!

I cannot wait to see and share the stunning professional photos with you from Laura’s wedding day - the whole process was a joy and bringing her vision to life using such a sentimental garment was a real honour.

✨ Behind the Scenes ✨

Spot the seamstress… 🪡 I’ve been working on some fabulous wedding dresses recently which have layers upon layers of hem including large, net petticoats! Despite having an industrial sewing machine, even that can get lost amongst the fullness of these dresses!

There are a variety of ways to shorten hem lengths but it’s not always about cutting away from the bottom - some petticoats need to be lifted from their gathered seams midway up, to get the proportions correct for the height of my bride.

✨ Flower Girl Alterations ✨

This gorgeous little flower girl dress not only needed taking in by over 4” but we also chose to lose the sleeves for the hot summer wedding, and using offcuts of the dotted tulle hem, I created some cute, gathered sleeve trims to complete the look.

Flower girl dresses are the sweetest! 💕

✨ Real Bride - Part 2 ✨

Gorgeous Emma enjoyed a beautiful sunny, summer wedding day, holding her nuptials in a stunning local church followed by the reception at the family farm.

I absolutely adore the style of her photos and how beautifully the day has been captured. I especially love how relaxed Emma is for the evening celebrations; shoes are off and she is all about the fun and comfort!

The simple button and loop bustle works so well at shortening the train 🪡

Emma chose a fabulous Suzanne Neville London wedding dress from Carina B Couture - Luxury Bridal Boutique which needed a variety of alterations to achieve the final sculpted fit. This included bodice re-styling, a full waist lift and skirt re-shaping, hem length shortening and a bustle.

I was also lucky to look after Emma’s sister for her wedding just a few months before so I also fitted and altered their bridesmaids dresses for each other’s wedding days. What was an extra special touch was that both brides used the same veil too - hopefully that will become a family heirloom for future generations.

I really enjoyed looking after Emma and seeing the confidence and smile grow at each appointment as the dress became a better fit to her frame. It was absolutely perfect 💕

✨ Thank you Message ✨

It’s always special to read words of thanks from my brides and this was another sweet message to receive.

When I was asked if it would be possible to use offcuts from the brides dress to create this keepsake bear for her daughter, I was hopeful I’d have just enough fabric, but I knew it would be a little bit of a challenge to form pieces that were big enough for each pattern piece. It’s like starting a jigsaw puzzle and not knowing if you’ve got all the pieces but when I managed to cut all the panels out, I couldn’t have been happier.

The final result was exactly as I’d hoped and I’m thrilled that Chloe was over the moon with it too. 💕

✨ Prom Queen ✨

Another one of my fabulous prom girls to share today, the beautiful Kacey! She chose this very elegant, shimmery navy, beaded dress which has a fabulous pleated detail on the front skirt.

Her dress needed taking in on the bodice which meant unpicking the beaded lace overlay, taking in (including the boning) and re-laying the overlay in place. I also shortened the straps and made them detachable so she had the option of wearing the dress strapless and the hems also needed shortening. Because this dress had a small train, I also put in a wrist loop for dancing.

It’s always wonderful to work on prom dress alterations; seeing the happy smiles, excitement and confidence on each one of their faces at their final fitting is always such a joy.

✨ Prom Queen ✨

Another gorgeous photo of one of my summer prom queens this year 💕 Sophie found her dress from Belle Of The Ball Bridals; the shimmer across the emerald green fabric was just stunning, such a beautiful choice.

The bodice needed taking in on the sides alongside re-shaping at the centre back to fit into Sophie’s natural curve as well as shortening/moving the straps and tweaking the split opening.

This is such an elegant silhouette - Sophie looked flawless!

✨ Real Bride - Sneak Peak ✨

The lovely Annemarie has sent me these wonderful sneak peak photos from her big day in June. I especially loved the shaping across the neckline on this fabulous dress - it suited her silhouette beautifully.

Annemarie came to me with just a few alterations being needed to perfect the fit - this included side bust darts and lace re-set, hem shortenings and the creation of a strong, elasticated corset panel inside to help hold the strapless dress in place.

I am really looking forward to seeing more of the professional photos from the day ❤️
