It was a pleasure to welcome the Conseillère Municipale and councillors from our twin town Charenton-le-Pont on Friday to Parade House, along with the Chair and members of the French Twinning Association, following the formal welcome Reception with the Mayor of Trowbridge at the council offices.

The group were treated to a private history tour of Grade 1 Listed Parade House and were pleased to see several antique French pieces of furniture on display from the Premier Empire, including our large crystal chandelier hanging above the staircase to the 18th century parcel gilt and silk French chaises that adorn the entrance hall and the drawing room.

Our French lavender beds were in full bloom, bursting through the railings and giving off the sweet scent of Provence, right here in our County Town of Wiltshire.

We wish them safe journey home and look forward to future visits following almost 30 years of our joint towns’ twinning.

❗️Stop Press: We have already SOLD OUT of tickets for “Ladies & Gentlemen on Parade” in September!

Parade House is the only venue outside Bath to take part in the Jane Austen Festival of Bath, and this year, to celebrate Jane Austen 250, we are running two identical events in the Jane Austen Festival week to fulfil the high demand.

Both the 15th and 17th September dates sold out within an hour of ticket release, and each has a long and closed waiting list.

Therefore we decided to release a new batch of tickets for a third date on Monday 13th September - which has also sold out!

“Ladies & Gentlemen on Parade” is a unique event to Parade House.

Guests travel especially to attend the JAF from all four corners of the world and ours is one of the most popular events on the week’s calendar.

Dressed in their Regency finery, festival goers board a train from Bath to Trowbridge for a short scenic ride through the beautiful Wiltshire countryside.

Then they alight at Trowbridge station and parade through the historic centre of the County Town of Wiltshire all the way to Parade House, where they are met by Lord and Lady Trowbridge, The Mayor of Trowbridge and the Town Crier and a Press Call.

The fun continues with a unique afternoon of Theatrical Entertainment, a Champagne Cream Tea and Regency Parlour Games.

Next month in The Screening Room at Parade House, the inspiring story of the young woman who defied Napoleon to build the world's most prestigious champagne house, V***e Clicquot, in the early 1800s.

A visually sumptuous biopic, WIDOW CLICQUOT brings to life the remarkable story of Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin Clicquot, the pioneering woman behind the world-famous champagne house. It's 1805, and at the age of just 27, Barbe-Nicole (played by Haley Bennett) finds herself widowed and facing enormous pressure to sell her late husband’s struggling winery. Instead, she chooses a path rarely taken by women of her time, transforming the business into a groundbreaking global enterprise.

Set against the rolling vineyards of early 19th-century Reims, the film is richly atmospheric, capturing the earthy elegance of its setting with cinematographer Caroline Champetier’s dusky, golden-hued lensing. The story follows the Widow - V***e in French - Clicquot's determined path to success as she refines what will become the iconic “comet” vintage and, with the help of a charismatic wine broker (played by Sam Riley), circumvents Napoleon’s trade restrictions through an audacious underground sales network.

Her struggle is both professional and personal, navigating a world where women were legally and socially sidelined. Haley Bennett delivers a powerful and nuanced performance, slowly revealing the inner steel beneath her composed exterior. Tom Sturridge adds emotional complexity as her passionate but troubled husband, while Riley brings energy and charm as her loyal business partner.

This is a celebratory portrait of an innovator who defied the odds, wrapped in the timeless allure of champagne and history. Like a good vintage, it leaves a lasting impression: refined, satisfying, and quietly bold.

Screening on Friday 11th July.

Happy Wiltshire Day!

Did you know that 5th June is Wiltshire Day?

As one of the finest Georgian buildings in Wiltshire, Parade House is proud to fly the Wiltshire Flag, with the famous Great Bustard emblem representing the reintroduction of this almost extinct bird onto the Salisbury plains.

Pictured here in front of Parade House is Mike Prior, the inventor and designer of the Wiltshire Flag, alongside Victoria Nye, the Deputy Lieutenant for Wiltshire, Cllr Stephen Cooper, Mayor of Trowbridge which is the County Town of Wiltshire, Trevor Heeks the Trowbridge Town Crier, and Carey Tesler, Chair or the Trowbridge Chamber.

🏆 You voted - and we WON!

We’re so excited to have received our award yesterday 🥇 for “The Best Event Venue in Wiltshire 2025” in the Muddy Stilettos Awards.

Thank you for everyone who voted for Parade House and helped us win this prestigious award for the second year running - and to put the County Town of Wiltshire centre stage once more.

It was barely 3 years ago that we bought and saved Grade 1 Listed Parade House from dereliction and the threat of being turned into 11 bedsits.

Today it’s a thriving multi award-winning events venue, a local treasure hosting everything from Weddings, conferences, exhibitions, cream teas, fine dining dinners, open days, themed and costumed events, cocktail nights, film screenings in our luxury cinema, themed and costumed events, the Jane Austen Festival, TV location shoots, private bookings and celebrations, antique valuation days and so much more.

It’s been a true labour of love for a retired couple in their mid sixties and we are so grateful to our incredible loyal and hardworking part time team, and to our wonderful and loyal guests who voted for Parade House, enabling us to fly the flag for Trowbridge and for Wiltshire once more! 🏆

Come and visit our magnificent Georgian venue for one of our many events or why not book your own?
