VINCENT DELANEY MEMORIAL CELEBRATES 15 YEARS

Sixth staging at Tir Prince — provisional dates Friday 13th & Saturday 14th August 2027

The Vincent Delaney Memorial will celebrate its 15th year in 2027, returning to Tir Prince Raceway for the sixth time.

VDM Chairman Derek Delaney and Tir Prince Racing Manager Eric Witherspoon are delighted to confirm that they will once again join forces following the success of this year’s event.

Since its inception, the VDM has seen over £1 million raced for, attracting leading stakes horses, drivers, owners and trainers, along with participants and fans from around the world.

The event features Group racing for 2-, 3- and 4-year-old horses, alongside the prestigious Bernie Kelly International Ladies Race, making it one of the highlights of the stakes-racing calendar.

Derek Delaney said:

“Fifteen years is a fantastic milestone for the VDM, and to have raced for over £1 million during that time is something everyone involved can be extremely proud of.

“We’re delighted to be returning to Tir Prince for our sixth staging. This year was a great success and we’re already working together on making 2027 even better.

“We have some exciting ideas that we’re working hard to secure finance for. We don’t want to give too much away yet, but we’re hoping to add another flavour to what is already a fantastic weekend of racing.”

Eric Witherspoon, Tir Prince Racing Manager, added:

“Tir Prince is delighted to welcome the VDM back for its sixth year here. The event has become a major part of the racing calendar, attracting participants and fans from around the world.

“We’re looking forward to working with Derek and the team again and building on the success of this year. There are some exciting plans being discussed, and hopefully we’ll have more to announce soon.”

Further details on the 2027 programme, prize money and additional plans will be announced in due course.

Unfortunately due to concerns over the condition of the track following a leaking drain underneath the track we have had to take the tough decision to cancel this Saturdays meeting at Tir Prince Raceway (Saturday 19th September 2026). We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Right folks the Premier League football season starts this week and The North Wales Horse Owners Association are going to run a last man standing competition to raise funds for the prize money for the 2027 season. The rules are simple it’s £10 a life and you can buy as many lives as you want. Each week you pick a team and if they win you keep your life and stay in but if they lose you lose it and are out unless you have bought multiple lives. If you have one life you pick one team if you have ten lives you pick ten teams you can even put all ten lives on the same team if you are that confident! Once you have picked a team once though you can’t pick them again for the same life. We will keep a record and update it each week. All teams must be selected by the time the first team kicks off for the weekend so if the first game is Friday night then everyone must pick by then. The winner will get 50% of the total fund and 50% will go into prize money. This will be completely transparent throughout. If nobody wins and everyone goes out then we start again and the pot rolls over. This is going to take a lot of administration so this post if to see whether we can get the interest if you want to be in put yes and state how many lives you want then we will sort out a group from there. You have to be in from the start so if you miss out you would have to wait for a rollover to buy in. Who’s in folks?
