Cabaret Voltaire.

Cabaret Voltaire. Cultural events: mostly music, but sometimes poetry and other things Welcome! Willkommen! Bienvenue! By day we paint pictures, teach children and build walls.

But by night our records jostle uncontrollably for attention, knowing that soon they will be spinning in a tent, forest or club. Arms flaying and hips swaying; bodies sweaty, dancefloor heavy. Musicians, artists and philosophers - come! Leave your troubles at the door, hear the call and enter the Cabaret Voltaire...

Pictish Trail performed in Totnes last week - there was poppy, pschey, folky fun times. Billie Maree opened with some pretty songs and Bee made it sound good. Nikheel from Tamarine Tree cooked a lovely meal for us - thank you.

LYR’s last two dates of their tour were in two beautiful churches in Exeter and Falmouth. Yoshika Colwell warmed up wonderfully.
It was the first concert of its kind at St Michael and All Angels’ Church at Mt Dinham in Exeter.

It was a lot of fun.

William Tyler is playing an intimate show in Totnes, Devon, at the Barrel House in the shadow of the castle.

He had a massive album with Kieran Hebden aka Fourtet, he’s done modern country, boundary-pushing guitar work, and was previously of Lambchop and Silver Jews.
So William has made plenty of pretty music, but last year’s Time Indefinite is “haunting, beautiful and unsettlingly close”.

Hannah Moule is opening for John Smith on 13 May at the Barrel House in Totnes. This is a video of her opening for The Breath also at the Barrel House in Totnes, but in the past, not the future. She’s so excellent, as you can see, so I invited her back.

This John Smith gig was moved because he was poorly.
