My first sets of reusable fabric wraps are ready to go!

I've been using my own set for over ten years now, and enjoy bringing them out each year alongside our decorations, they are part of our traditions.

Each set includes 3 beautiful Christmas printed designs plus ribbons, these are suitable for smaller gifts £13 a set.

Greenwashing at it's finest

"Compostable" means about as much as "natural."

CBC Marketplace tested various "compostable" products in:

a) a lake,
b) a backyard composter,
c) buried underground.

Almost nothing completely broke down. Most of these types of single-use products are compostable where facilities exist. But those facilities barely exist anywhere.

If "you're one of the millions of Canadians whose municipalities do not accept compostable items, it's nearly impossible to access a commercial composter."

Beware greenwashing!

Play Torbay runs a weekly programme of clubs at Mayfield, Crafty Fox, and Forest School at Indigos. As the majority of these clubs receive no external financial support, they have sadly become unsustainable, leaving us with no option but to pause these much-loved services.

Every year the party kit network runs an audit to see how many single use items have been avoided over a year from all the little businesses like mine doing their little bit to help.

This year my lovely customers have helped save 500 single use items from being sent to landfill!!!

Fantastic initiative, I wonder if we can do similar in Torquay?

🌊 Wetsuits don’t belong in landfill. If you’ve got kit gathering dust, we’ll re-use it through our Pre-loved Wetsuit scheme and give all profits straight back to our Surf Therapy programmes. Last year we kept 6 tonnes of neoprene in use. Let’s do even more in 2025!

I'm not sure how balloon arches have become such a thing but for a more eco friendly version here done nice options,

(and no there is no such thing as an eco friendly balloon - yes there some marked as bio degradable but they need to put in to the exact right conditions to bio degrade and that is not a bin bag!)

Here are some fun and reusable ways to create a wow-worthy party entrance or photo backdrop:

✨ Paper fans, pom-poms, honeycomb balls, lanterns, and ribbons are all reusable and just as colourful as balloons.

✨ Paper decorations aren’t self-supporting, so you’ll need a frame. Try a balloon arch frame, metal mesh panel, backdrop stand, garden archway, or even a doorway or window surround.

If you’re a householder and you have cans of useable leftover paint gathering dust in your shed or attic, you can now take it to one of Devon’s Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRC) for others to use.

The idea of the new Community Repaint scheme is simple; if you have any useable paint, perhaps left over from a home improvement project, why not make some extra room and take it to a recycling centre?

Community RePaint is a UK-wide initiative that makes paint available to others; all they have to do is collect it.
