Our Hetty has moved on to pastures new 🥹 The heart of Hetty is still with us as in the decor, ambience and ethos but it’s time for a lovely Brixham family to take charge and create a scrumptious pizza business going forward. We wish them the very best and hope they get as much enjoyment as we did from the short time we had exhibiting her. Do give them a follow and like 😊💕🙏

Please note a standalone website for Heart of Torbay no longer exists and landing pages for Heart of Torbay, Tidy Home Tidy Mind and Hetty the Horsebox have been created within the website www.sharonnelson.co.uk which launches TODAY!

For those of you who aren’t aware, I (Sharon) am the founder of Heart of Torbay. I moved to Torbay 12 years ago and have since created several projects, mainly supporting the VCSE sector. What many people aren’t aware is that prior to moving down here I had many years of business and commercial leadership, management and coaching experience in London and the South East. It felt time to package all that information up and launch ‘me’!

To sum me up, if I was a stick of Torbay rock it would have the word ‘fairness’ running through it! Fairness is my number one value; it’s my driver and my passion. Every one of us deserves to be heard, seen, valued and given equal opportunity to live our best life and thrive.

I lead from a place of extensive lived experience including the management of a hidden disability (since I was a baby) which has recently come to a crossroads: I’ve tried to manage both my physical and mental health alongside trying to keep all the plates spinning with my local projects but I’ve had to hold my hands up and acknowledge I need to ease up and take a little time out where I can at the moment.

Do keep an eye on the website events page as there are many events, workshops and training days people have asked for, I’ve wanted to do and are needed locally so I’ll be adding them as we go through this year. I’m also planning to do some consultancy work around systemic change, creative business solutions and heart-led leadership - all of which I’m passionate about, have extensive experience of and we desperately need to see more of in Torbay.

Thank you to each and every person, group and organisation which has supported and acknowledged Heart of Torbay, Tidy Home Tidy Mind, Hetty the Horsebox and/or me. It’s so appreciated 🙏 I’m not going anywhere just yet 😉💕

Today is the last day of Torre Abbey Christmas Market. It’s been a blast and a fantastic event to build on year on year. Thank you to each and every visitor who’s supported the event, traders and organisers. Anyone who knows anything at all about putting on an event (let alone one in Torbay 😉) knows how challenging it can be, particularly with VERY short notice. However there are so many positive signs that things are improving. Allowing local grass roots to showcase their brilliant creativity, ideas and offerings is the only way forward. Happy Christmas one and all 😀💝

The loveliest thing about taking Hetty out is the wonderful people (and dogs!) I get to talk to. Not only the customers but the traders and organisers who work tirelessly.

I’m so appreciative of Torre Abbey Christmas Market for giving Heart of Torbay CIC the opportunity to join in this year. It really is a market with heart; everyone is doing their very best and it’s actually quite miraculous it got off the ground given the very short notice the organisers had to pull everything together and if you know anything about markets you’ll know stalls get booked up months and months in advance. There’s an incredible opportunity to build on this year’s event so let’s all get behind it and support it. After all, Torbay has been saying they’ve wanted one for years! 😀💝🎄

Please note Hetty the Horsebox won’t be opening at Torre Abbey Christmas Market today. This is based on the weather forecast clearly but also alongside other closures in the immediate area. Back with warming crumble pots tomorrow all being well! 😊💕

⚠️ Important Announcement: Garden Closure Due to Storm Darragh 🚫

We regret to inform you that, due to the severe weather conditions brought by Storm Darragh, our gardens will be closed this weekend.

For the safety of our visitors and staff, and due to the potential risk of falling branches etc we will be closed on December 7th and 8th.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding. Stay safe!
