A little something that’s been on my mind…
I’ve noticed there can sometimes be a some snobbery in the DJ world. You’re either expected to be a “wedding DJ” or a “club/festival DJ”, as if you can’t possibly be both….Why?
To me, a great DJ is someone who can read a room, understand people, and create an unforgettable atmosphere, whatever the setting. Whether it’s a packed festival dancefloor, a house music event, a wedding, a birthday party or a corporate celebration, it’s all about connecting people through music, by no means am I a ‘disco Dave’ 🤣
House music will always be my first love. It’s the genre that lives in my soul. But I also have a genuinely eclectic taste in music and I love playing pretty much any genre! Weddings and private events give me the chance to play music I might not otherwise get to play, and I absolutely love that. Seeing a dancefloor full of people aged 8 to 80 all enjoying themselves is just as rewarding as watching a crowd lose themselves to a house set at 2am.
Music is music. If it’s good, it’s good.
So maybe it’s time we stopped putting DJs into little boxes and judging each other for the gigs we choose to do. There’s room for all of us, and there should be respect for every part of this industry.
On another note, some of you may have noticed I’ve changed my DJ name from Hayley Blue to HAYLO.
The decision wasn’t made lightly, but unfortunately the name “Hayley Blue” has become associated with a certain someone last name Blue, in the public eye that’s literally effed it! That’s not something I want my brand or my business to be connected with. I’ve worked incredibly hard over the years to build a reputation based on professionalism, great music and creating amazing experiences, so it felt like the right time to move forward with a fresh identity. Unfortunately I have to wait 60 days to be able to change it on here 🙄!
The music, the passion, the energy and the person behind the decks haven’t changed one bit… just the name.
So here’s to a new chapter.
See you on the dancefloor.
