Something very special is taking shape at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital ๐ฑ
Thanks to your incredible generosity, work has started this week on project to transform an unused corner of the hospital into a dedicated ICU garden โ a peaceful green space for some of Devon's most critically ill patients ๐ป๐๐
For people fighting for their lives in Intensive Care, days can stretch into weeks without ever feeling the sun or breathing fresh air. This garden will change that. Beds, patients, and all their medical equipment will be able to move outside โ giving families precious moments together in a calm, natural setting.
โWe want to give our patients and families a breath of fresh air,โ said ICU Garden Project Lead Andrew Lockwood.
โWe know that an accessible outside space like this will make such a big difference to our patients and studies show that it can help speed up their recovery.
โUnfortunately, this type of space just isnโt possible with NHS funding so we are very grateful to the local community for their kind support.โ
The team have been working hard to raise the money needed โ including creating and selling their own cook book โ and are so close to hitting their fundraising target. If youโd like to help them get over the finish line, thereโs a link in the comments below ๐๐
