A Brief Report
At last evenings Village Hall Committee Meeting, Vice Chair Malcolm Morley advised the Committee the condensation in the kitchen was still an ongoing problem but assured the members he would have a solution very shortly.
In finance, Treasurer Linsey Payne stated the current account was stable and seeking a savings account which not only paid interest but was also readily accessible if required in an emergency as had been previously experienced. A brief discussion took place and an agreement made on the suitable home for the funds.
Helen Fothergill reported that hall bookings were a little down compared to the same period of last year but not too significantly to be of great concern. Regular users were still active, it was the incidentals that were missing.
In their regular Hall inspection Chair Richard Byas noted that he and Vice Chair Malcolm some repointing was required to an area of brickwork and guttering on the south side needed attention along with an air vent on the west apex that appeared to need some cleaning and possible painting.
Secretary Doug Allan reported the final draft of the revised Village Hall Constitution was about ready to forward to the Charity Commission and requested some fellow members to assist with finalising the document ready for approval.
In any other business, Deb Kane approached the Committee to request the storage of the decorative Poppies used in the Annual Village Poppy display around the village. She announced that Rob and herself after many years, wished to stand down from the responsibility of displaying them and wished to find a group of volunteers willing to take up this once a year task. The Committee agreed to the storage and would actively assist in seeking the the required villagers to undertake this much revered task when the time was appropriate.
Doug Allan had been looking at groups and individuals who could possibly benefit from hiring the Village Hall. Book Clubs, larger Family gatherings maybe a folk club, dance or fitness lessons? If any villagers know or can promote any such activity or the like it would be to the benefit of our Villages.
The Chair brought the meeting to a close and announced the next meeting would be on the
5th May 2026 which would be the Annual General Meeting at 7.30 and as in accordance with our Constitution, all Villagers are welcome and invited to attend.
We hope this report has been informative and of interest.
