Our Ceremony Barn has seen some wonderful moments over the years.

With its beautiful beams, natural light and everyone gathered together, it's a special place to begin married life.

It's one of our favourite spaces at Thirsk Lodge Barns, and even better when you see it in person.

A little October sunshine, the happiest walk back down the aisle and a few moments together before the celebrations get into full swing.

We love seeing the barns filled with family, friends and all the excitement of a wedding day.

And that autumn evening light across the Yorkshire countryside - just lovely.

Next week, the barns are opening their doors for our Autumn Wedding Showcase.

If you’re planning your wedding, it’s a chance to see Thirsk Lodge Barns dressed for the occasion, take your time looking around and meet some of the brilliant suppliers who know the venue well.

There’ll be flowers, photography, styling, music and plenty of people to chat to about the details you’ve been thinking about – and probably a few you haven’t yet.

And because wedding planning is always better with something good to eat, Peckish will be firing up the ovens and serving focaccia pizzas throughout the evening.

The Dining Room

One of the loveliest things about a wedding at Thirsk Lodge Barns is that the day never needs to stop while one room becomes another.

After the ceremony, the Dining Room is already waiting. Tables laid, glasses ready and views out across the fields and wild meadow. No turnaround, no guests being moved around while furniture disappears - just a very natural flow from one part of the day to the next.

With its open oak trusses, skylight and oak floor, there’s room for up to 140 around round tables or long trestles, while still feeling just as inviting for a smaller wedding.

And for all weddings from January, what arrives on those tables will be coming from Peckish in our new in-house kitchen, with seasonal menus, local produce and plenty grown here on the Newsham Estate.

A room made for gathering around the table and taking your time once you get there.

Beautiful colours, a lot of dancing and a very good party.

From the flowers and those brilliant pops of orange, to a ceremony in the Main Barn, dhol drums outside and a dance floor that looks like it barely stopped all night.

There were big moments, brilliant outfits, a very happy dance floor and just enough late summer sunshine for a wander around the estate.

A lovely reminder that the best weddings feel completely like the people at the heart of them.

Autumn, served at the table.

On Thursday 15th October, Peckish will be in the kitchen for an evening built around some of the best things the season has to offer.

Think roast pumpkin with sage and truffle, slow-roasted pork with apple and mustard slaw, dauphinoise potatoes and sticky toffee pudding with miso butterscotch to finish.

For our wedding couples, it’s also a lovely opportunity to experience Peckish beyond the wedding menu: the food, the presentation and the relaxed way we like to gather around a table.

Not everyone wants to stay on the dance floor all night.

Just off the Main Barn, the Wheelhouse is our snug little retreat from the celebrations. Sofas to sink into, views across the meadow and a TV for younger guests who’ve had enough of the grown-ups for one day.

It’s somewhere to catch up with family, give tired feet a rest or simply take five before heading back to the party.

One room your guests may never see…

Our VIP Room belongs entirely to the two of you.

Before an onsite ceremony, it’s a private place to meet the registrar and gather your thoughts. Later, it becomes somewhere to leave the practical things - a change of shoes, make-up bag and anything else you might need as the day unfolds.

Most importantly, it gives you somewhere to slip away together for five minutes. Reapply your lipstick, pour a little tipple, admire those new rings and take in the wonderful fact that you’ve just got married.

A small space, but one that can feel very special in the middle of a beautifully busy wedding day at Thirsk Lodge Barns.

Four Saturdays. One could be yours.

Saturday weddings at Thirsk Lodge Barns are almost fully booked for 2027, but four lovely dates remain:

6 March - enjoy the first signs of spring
30 October - beautiful autumn colours and candlelit tables
6 November - fireside drinks and a full evening in the barns
13 November - lucky for someone, perhaps?

Each one brings exclusive use of the venue, seasonal food from Peckish Kitchen and space for everyone to settle in and celebrate properly.

That was summer at Thirsk Lodge Barns. 🤍

Long days in the Courtyard, doors thrown open to the sunshine, tables dressed and waiting, glasses raised and dance floors that rarely stayed empty for long.
But mostly, it was about the people.

The couples who said I do here, the families and friends who filled the Barns with laughter, the suppliers who brought each day together and our team who did it all again the following morning.

There have been flowers in every colour, some very good food from Peckish, beautiful summer evenings and more happy faces than we could possibly fit into one post.
To all of our summer couples, thank you for letting us be part of it.

And just like that, autumn weddings are around the corner. We can’t wait to see what they bring.
