That is all the tulips finally in 😱

One of the most expensive, riskiest crops we plant! And bulb prices were practically double for us this season even at wholesale cost πŸ˜ͺ.

2023 saw what we dubbed
2024 they were too short, due to the weather, despite pulling the entire bulb. (We treat these as annuals, there is stem length we need under ground!)
2025 we cannot fully complain, we did have to water them more than usual, shade cloth them and harvesting happened a minimum of twice a day as it was so mild and warm they were opening so fast we had to watch them like hawks.
What will 2026 bring?! 🌷

We had a visitor in the tunnel today while planting more ranunculus, some ammi majus and dara. They got very close and were very curious πŸ’•

We are trialling something different this winter to protect our ranunculus. We always use the chicken wire but had a little brain wave to use thistles (plenty on the field πŸ€£πŸ™ˆ) as a barrier too, the creeping thistle pack a punch, our hands have had countless prickles stuck over the last couple of years as they easily pe*****te our gloves!
Some of our ranunculus has been in for nearly 2 weeks and dare we say, so far so good. In previous years the chicken wire just hasnt been enough as mice can get through the smallest of gaps and no sooner have we planted, theyve been dug up and eaten.

Its set to be below 0 degrees this evening. So fleeced up for a little extra protection for all those seed babies we will mother through the winter. Some growth is more than usual due to the milder weather. On the other hand some are still teeny due to a very dull October!

This poppy (we think?!) caught our attention with its white spotted leaves! And a pop of colour peeped out from Hellebore Corner a little prematurely. We are aware we need to do some weeding - when dont we?! Its always one of those urgh kind of jobs πŸ˜†.

We had planned to plant all of our tulips today but a free advert for eucalyptus was more important 😁 and then it rained! Trying not to get fomo of everyone else's planted out tulips, we do have until the end of December at a push so still plenty of time yet.

Mrs Wild has been a busy one today.
Sunday scenes differ vastly from the previous few we've put in stories.
This is today's Sunday scene 😱 why Mrs Wild thought it was a clever idea to do all nearly 200 dahlia in the same day is anyone's guess - but the idea of slimey black frost blackened dahlia is highly likely the reason 🀣.
Goodnight dahlia, until next year! (Please survive πŸ™ˆ) its meant to be quite a harsh winter this year. So we may up the covering tactic over the next couple of weeks to make sure they're properly snug. Wet is a much worse culprit for rotting than frozen, unless its prolonged frost. Dahlia tubers are kind of like potatoes! And we've had a significant rain fall. The canopies of the plants and the sheep's wool around the bases has helped them not be totally sodden so we aren't trapping in super wet muddy ground thankfully.
We did have to lift a handful, as minor signs of leafy gall were present. This is over a 3rd less than last year's losses. Evidence of not too wet soil was the absence of lots of lenticels. Lenticels look like little bumps all over the tubers and aren't cause for massive concern but appear when there has been excess wet and moisture.

Mrs Wild is a sucker for mincemeat, especially at Christmas time. Mr Wonky treated her to a mincemeat crumble from Edwards Cafe Feltwell and Thetford at The Food Pantry Feltwell craft fair today and shes just had it with a cuppa, and oh my gosh πŸ˜‹!!

Thank you so much for capturing all the stalls, including ours today!

Thank you so much to everyone who stopped by for a chat, purchase or both. It was lovely to see "grown ups" from Mrs Wild's past, especially her Brownies leader πŸ₯ΉπŸ’•. Lots of conversations about seasonal, sustainable, Flowers From The Farm and more. Cup = full!

A surprise visit from Mrs Wild's sister and family and of course our eldest Wild Bloomer bee lined for for her bow fix, who is always so patient and kind.

Mrs Wild got her tropic fix of course, some amazing festive sets are available - let me know if you're interested and we will send you details to my amazing ambassador πŸ’•. Tropic has totally transformed and changed our skin routine - from face, hands and feet, especially as a flower farmer!

Mrs Wild bought a lovely wooden hand crafted tree. Wondering if we can commission a bigger one for our own baubles next festive season?!

Remaining stock will be at Mundford Hall of Stalls on Friday 21st November from 3pm! Not to be missed - as we are not replenishing most of our stock, so grab those lovely items while you can as once they're gone, they're gone!

Lots of gorgeous items available from lots of stall holders today at St Mary's Church Feltwell!

Mrs Wild is feeling incredibly nostalgic, having grown up and spent her childhood in this village and haven't really been back for most of her adult life πŸ˜†.
