After well over seven years of hard work and many setbacks yesterday we reached a milestone in the new Community Hall project. The CDC building inspector has approved the Community Hall part of the building can begin opening to the public, and we can now allow people in.

However, don’t get too excited. It is still going to take a few months to get fully up and running as we commission the building, run test events and adapt the booking systems etc but this is still a day to be celebrated.

Up until now we have not been allowed to let people into the building as it was considered a building site. Now we have official approval, even though we are not finished, we thought people might want to come and look at what we have been trying to make happen.

Tonight, Friday, we are having a small thank you event for our funders and contractors. But on Sunday, the 29th, from 11am to 2pm, the doors will be open for anyone who wants to pop in and look around.

The fantastic news is by the end of the summer Tetbury will have an additional, modern, flexible community space that has not cost its residents a single penny.

🌿 March Update from Dolphins Recreation Centre🌿

Spring is on its way, and there's lots happening at Dolphins Recreation Centre! Here’s your latest community update:

🏗 Exciting Progress on the New Build 🏗️
The new Community, Youth & Sports Complex is really taking shape! The flooring and partition wall are now installed, and work on skirting boards, architraves, and landscaping will be completed soon. We’ve also signed off additional ventilation and fire door carpentry work to keep things moving towards our Summer 2025 opening!

💰 Finance & Funding Updates 💰
We’re pleased to report that our finances remain stable, with invoices issued to local clubs and a healthy bar account. Thanks to careful budgeting and community support, the redevelopment is staying on track.

🏉 🏏 ⚽️ Sports Pitches & Future Planning ⚽️🏏🏉
With Tetbury Cricket Club’s 3rd XI moving up a league, they can no longer use their temporary pitch. Discussions are underway to explore natural pitch solutions and potential layout changes to better accommodate this request and a request for an additional rugby/multi-use winter sports pitch. A multi-user meeting is being arranged to find the best way forward!

🛠 General Updates 🛠️
The neighbouring landowner has agreed to install a new fence after some unexpected and regular visitors (horses!) were found roaming the Rec on a daily basis last month.

☑️ Various event and club requests have been approved, so expect plenty of activity in the coming months!
☑️ The grounds maintenance contract is being reviewed to ensure we’re getting the best value for the upkeep of the Rec.
☑️ A new glass recycling bin is being added due to new recycling legislation, but a reminder — please only use the bins if you're using the facilities! Fly-tipping and incorrect waste disposal are causing collection issues and extra costs.

🏛 Phase 2 Redevelopment Planning 🏛️
Trustees are revisiting the plans for Phase 2 and the new Community Hall. We will be reaching out to all user groups to ensure the Redevelopment Project continues to meet everyone’s needs before moving forward.

With funding secured we are making good progress on the new community building on the rec. The floors are all in and today the flexible partition walls have been installed.

Thank you to everyone who attended the Town Council meeting this evening to support our application for CIL funding.

The council voted unanimously to award us £27k which will be enough to see the building opened.

🌟 Dolphins Recreation Centre December Trustee Meeting Highlights 🌟

Here’s a quick update on what was discussed during the latest trustees’ meeting on 5th December:

✅ Finance Update: Our current account holds approximately £9,800, with £500 in the bar account. We’re ensuring careful budget management as we move forward as costs of maintaining the facility rise and our regular grant funding decreases.

🏗️ New Build Progress: Positive steps were made, including discussions around a Cotswold District Council community fund grant and plans to engage the building inspector. We’re working hard to move out of the “building site” phase so we can get more volunteers involved!

📜 CIO Update: Trustees having previously agreed to move forward with the land transfer, were reminded to ensure their identity verification for the solicitors was underway.

💡 Kitchen Plans: Discussions are underway for installing a new kitchen in the Dolphins Hall with potential availability in January. Pricing for fire and bar doors is also in progress.

🌳 Grounds Improvements: Quotes are being gathered for tree work, and Tetbury Town Council is keen to fund improved playground signage.

🎉 November Trustee Meeting Update from Dolphins Recreation Centre! 🎉

October was a bustling and productive month, and we’re excited to announce a new commitment to keep you in the loop! Going forward, you’ll see regular monthly updates from us, sharing the latest news and progress from our trustee meetings. Here’s what we’ve been working on this past month:

📜 Land transfer progress: We’ve appointed Loxleys to handle the paperwork for transferring land from the old charity to the new one. This is a big step in modernising our operations and ensuring we’re in great shape to thrive in the modern business landscape.

🎠 Playpark improvements: Exciting discussions are underway about adding fantastic new equipment to the playpark! The proposal includes three new pieces of equipment and a maintenance plan, and while fundraising will be key, the trustees are fully behind this initiative to enhance the space for local families.

📈 Planning for the future: We’ve started drafting a business plan to make the Centre even more professional and beneficial for everyone who uses it. It’s early days, but it’s a great step towards a sustainable future!

🔧 Maintenance updates: We’re tackling practical tasks like fixing outside lights, addressing potholes, and planning an update to the Dolphins Hall kitchen. We’re also organising the back room, arranging fire extinguisher certifications, and taking care of the little things that keep the Centre running smoothly.
