With under a week until Chapel Barn Theatre Festival opens, it's time to MEET THE TEAM! 😎

Chapel Barn is a family-run community interest company, set up by Giselle and James, active members of their local community in Milton Abbot and Sydenham Damerel 🌳🏡🍃

Their son, Selwin, joined the team this year to make the festival come to life, bringing his expertise in theatre to create a memorable weekend of live shows for our community 🎭

The festival opens NEXT WEEK and runs from Friday 19th June until Sunday 21st June. We're so excited! ✨

FINALLY... the team behind The Dame Show!

LIZI BENNETT is an Exeter based Actor-Musician and founder of female led company ‘Stowaway Theatre’ that tells historical stories that have been lost, forgotten or haven't had the platform they deserve! She’s also a writer, facilitator, prop maker, co-artistic director of Boots and Moon Theatre & member of folk band ‘The Dillyboys’.

MARINA O'SHEA, performer, comedian, creative producer, theatre maker & writer, has worked extensively in theatre & film & is co-director of Yet To Be whose work ignites curiosity, provokes discussion & challenges whilst entertains. She’s written for The What The Frock! Book of Funny Women & performed with various stage & screen companies.

PRIMROSE BIGWOOD is a West Country based actress & part of the 2026 cohort of Screen Cornwall x BFI South West New Writers Network, developing her own comedy pilot through this initiative as well as other short form projects through Small Acorn Productions. Credits include BBC’s ‘Mood’ & various Cornish speaking projects.

These lovely ladies are bringing their next show in development, The Dame Show, to Chapel Barn Theatre Festival on Sunday 21st June!

NEXT UP... Baby Panda!

Baby Panda are an Exeter based theatre company making witty and surprising puppetry for young audiences. David and Andrea have been making theatre together for twenty years, working with some of the greatest puppet artists in the UK and beyond.

Their production of Dogs Don't Do Ballet for Little Angel Theatre ("a rollicking romp" Time Out, "deft, ingenious" Guardian) has played to sold out audiences since 2013, while their 2024 Kneehigh collaboration won the Jury Prize for Excellence at HipFest puppet festival in Iceland.

Their next show in development, "The Thing About Goats", is coming to Chapel Barn Theatre Festival on Sunday 21st June.

Selwin Hulme-Teague is an award-winning director from Tavistock, Devon. He specialises in collaborative new writing and working with actor-writers.

“I feel as if I am coming into a new phase of my work which is collaborative adaptation. Instead of coming up with a new story or working with a playwright to stage their work, I am bringing together a group of theatremakers to turn an old story into a contemporary, live form. I am so excited to not only share the play itself to an audience, but also the process behind it.”

Selwin’s next show in development, The Well of Loneliness, will be coming to Chapel Barn Theatre Festival on Saturday 20th June.

💥 Meet the artists behind the shows at Chapel Barn Festival 💥

FIRST UP... i.e. theatre!

i.e. theatre was formed in 2017, inspired by the by the open access, art-for-all ethos of Barnstaple Fringe TheatreFest.

"During that time we have created 10 original shows from scratch and have performed these around the UK in Barnstaple, Colchester, Stroud and Dundee. We're passionate about new writing, and our work uses music, poetry and comedy, often loosely stitched together with a historical thread."

Their next show in development, "Cavalier!" will be coming to Chapel Barn Theatre Festival on Friday 19th June.

📣 STAGE MANAGER CALL-OUT! 📣

We are looking for a stage-manager for our 3-day theatre festival 19th-21st June in Milton Abbot, Tavistock.

The stage manager duties:
- Manage our two rehearsal spaces in the lead-up to the festival
- Manage technical rehearsals
- Support all 4 shows during their get-in, technical rehearsal, show and get-out
- Ensure safety procedures are met throughout the festival

Please note that Chapel Barn is in a rural area with few transport links. We may be able to offer free accommodation if you have to travel from afar. Please specify this in your application.
