Well, what a night – it's fair to say we went out with a bang. When you have people queuing outside the venue before 8 o'clock you know it's going to be a big one! 🤯
First and foremost, a huge thank you to the main man – Crossy. In August 2018, Crossy won a vote to perform a warm-up set at a night we hosted at Zinc. From the moment he played, it was obvious he was destined for big things. Seeing him now, headlining shows around the world, fills us with pride. He brought one of the biggest lineups Taunton’s ever seen in 2020 – Ben Snow, Kelvin 373, Trafic, Gray, Selecta J-Man, A Little Sound – and we’ll always be grateful for that. The fact that he still remembers his roots and joined us for our final event was a real honour.
A big thank you to the team at 61 – bar staff for keeping us hydrated, the stellar security team for keeping us safe, and to Gareth for all his support too. Independent venues like 61 Bar & Venue Taunton are crucial to our scene. Times are tough and support for the local music scene is shrinking – now more than ever, these spaces are incredibly important and need our backing as much as possible.
Thank you to all the DJs and MCs who kept the energy flowing all night, and the performers from Fusion Dance Circus keeping us entertained on the high street.
And to those behind the scenes, your efforts didn’t go unnoticed.
Ian – our sound engineer – you revived the system a few years ago and and held us together during tough times. We literally wouldn’t have made it past 2021 without you.
To my sister Lucy – thank you for always manning the door, helping with last-minute logistics, long drives, and questionable cash runs and DJ lifts across town. Your time and support mean the world. Special shout out to Faye for helping out on the door last night too, helping to make sure everything runs smoothly.
My wife Amber, for putting up with me being glued to my computer, buried in spreadsheets, and constantly on my phone whilst organising this last event over the last few weeks.
To the crew who helped build Mammoth Sound over the last decade – Ben, Josh, Myles, James, Ian, Alex, and Finn– we lifted literal tons of gear, played venues across the Southwest, and gave everything to make each night special.
To every single performer and volunteer who helped in the early days – often for free or for a few beers – thank you. We couldn’t have done it without you. There are far too many to name, but you know who you are.
The reason we were so successful during our peak was because we created a community, we weren’t just playing music, we were bringing likeminded people together who enjoyed the same music and shared similar values. I had so many conversations last night where people have told me they’ve meet their best friends, their husbands, wives etc. at our events – which was incredibly heartwarming.
Huge shout out to Hive Recording Studio for the last-minute CDJ hire – you absolutely saved the day. Thanks to you, Crossy was able to run his optimal 4-deck setup and absolutely shell it for 90 minutes. We’re seriously grateful for your quick turnaround and support. Check them out for all your studio and recording needs!
And lastly, thank you to every single person who came to a Mammoth event over the years - whether you’ve been with us since day one or this was your first night, you brought the energy, the love, and the madness that made it all worth it.
Thank you all. Mammoth Sound, signing off. 🫡
