This summer, a new gathering comes to Holwell, just outside of Bampton. DevonDays Festival, is a three-day countryside event shaped by a simple idea - to bring people together around excellent food, shared stories and a deeper connection to the land.
Set across the fields of Holwell, the weekend will welcome local farmers, growers, chefs and makers, many from across Devon and the South West, who will share their craft through food, workshops and relaxed conversations. At its heart, is a celebration of the region’s best produce and the creative minds behind it, alongside community voices including Dr Karen Stead-Dexter, whose work at (CANAT - Centre for Animal and Nature Assisted Therapy), highlights the importance of nature in supporting mental wellbeing, with DevonDays helping to support her work.
The event has grown from a desire to support local talent and to create something that feels both thoughtful and accessible. Visitors can expect long-table dining using seasonal ingredients, informal talks on farming and sustainability, creative workshops, and gentle live music as the day moves into evening. There will also be space simply to wander the meadows, meet producers, be part of the conversation, and enjoy the landscape.
Founder Ollie Greenslade who runs Holwell, grew up on his father’s farm in Devon, surrounded by the rhythms of the land, food production and a close-knit rural community. 'Some of my earliest memories are of being outdoors, watching the seasons change and seeing first-hand the skill and care that goes into producing food. DevonDays comes from wanting to share that, to bring people together and shine a light on the talent, creativity and produce we’re so lucky to have on our doorstep.'
While the weekend includes supper clubs and evening celebrations, part of the event, particularly the Friday and Sunday, are designed to feel open, relaxed and community-led.
